either I am hallucinating massively, or there was some minor, but quite annoying change in reviews.
Generally, when I miss a review, my procedure used to be:
[ENTER] - solution is wrong - [open up info] - [ENTER] - next review opens
But now the following happens:
[ENTER] - solution is wrong - [open up info] -[ENTER] - item info closes - [ENTER] -item info closes again
This means I have to manually click into the solution field again, which is slightly annoying, since mouse movements always take much more time than keyboard operation.
Is this intentional? Could this be instead optional? Am I hallucinating and it was never the way I think it was?
That seems to be the same problem I have! I did not see his post before. I run no scripts, so that should not be the problem. Maybe it’s a browser thing? I use firefox, does it still work in other browsers? Unfortunately I have no access to something else right now to check myself.
For now my workaround ist, that if you use [F] to open to info page, it works as before. If I can get that shortcut into my memory, that would be the best solution anyway.
Apologies, but I misunderstood the situation. I thought it was a change that introduced a bug, but it was an intentional change. The change made it so the browser behaves as it should (click on an input, it gets focus, you press enter and it engages with the focused input). Previously, WaniKani was overriding browser defaults.
The plan is to keep it as is, but do email hello@wanikani.com and let us know how you used the old behavior for your workflow.
Thanks for the update! Sad, that I gotta change my workflow, but I understand why this is desirable from a developers point of view. Maybe the [F] shortcut for opening the info page without focusing could be highlighted in some way, because that’s honestly what I should have done all the time, but never knew
I also find this super annoying. Wouldn’t mind them to revert the change. But as others have pointed out. If you get an answer wrong, click [F] info box opens - read the info - click [F] info box closes - click [Enter] to continue to the next item.
I also find the new ‘update’ quite annoying since I have to drag my mouse or keypad to reach the arrow (when I get it wrong), then click it, in order to go to the next item. I agree with the above post it would be a good idea. Being able to rely solely on the keyboard shortcuts should be an option for optimal smoothness.
Also not too happy with the change. Would prefer to at least have ability to decide, how I want [Enter] to behave, I’m used to going to the next item with [Enter].
Apologies if I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying here, but it’s still possible to navigate the reviews using only your keyboard, and [Enter] still works to move to the next item.
In my case [Enter] works as intended as long as I don’t click on anything else (applies both to left and middle mouse buttons). As soon as I do click on anything with my mouse, [Enter] starts to activate whatever I clicked last.
For example, if I left click on ‘Last 10’ button, from now on [Enter] will show/hide this section instead of moving on to the next item. Another, much more annoying example would be when I middle clicked on home button to open WaniKani’s dashboard on a separate tab so as not to close my review session and then when I came back to the tab with ongoing review, hitting [Enter] activated home button, thus quitting the review session and hopping to dashboard.
Sorry if my previous post was unclear, hope it makes at least a little more sense now.
