Can I still use KaniWani for levels I've already unlocked if I cancel my WaniKani subscription?

I’m planning ahead for when I reach level 60 on WaniKani. At that point, I won’t really need to keep my WaniKani subscription active, but I’d still like to continue reviewing on KaniWani to reinforce my production recall.

I know WaniKani lets you keep items at Enlightened indefinitely, but that still requires an active subscription. So my question is: does KaniWani need a live WaniKani subscription to sync and function, or would it still work with all the vocabulary I’ve already unlocked?

Thanks!

Answer for misread Question

No, if you don’t have a subscription all SRS progress is paused. The only levels you can still SRS without an active subscription are levels 1-3.

You can still access all the information and see at which SRS step the items are at, but you can’t progress any item anymore. There will be no reviews. No way to progress the items along the SRS stages.

When you hit Level 60 you can purchase lifetime for $60 if you feel like you’d like to keep going until you burned all your items. Alternatively you can invest your now free time into some other resource, for example reading and mining the most relevant Kanji and vocabulary into your own Anki decks.

Just a small word of advice.
Don’t let perfect (burning everything) be the death of your progress. WaniKani is mostly there to get you comfortable learning Kanji and jumpstarting your learning progress, but it won’t be the end of that journey by a long shot.

EDIT: OOF I need reading practice in English, apparently. I didn’t realize you ask about KaniWani. Don’t have information for it. Sorry I misread your question.

No worries for the mix-up! But you gave me a very interesting piece of information, is it really true that you can get a lifetime WaniKani subscription for $60 once you reach level 60?

Yes, it true
