Finished with this week’s chapter. I liked that chapter very much. Except for the part at the end when they are in the cow shed, and it gets strange and a little too full of symbolism again. It was also easier to read for me since it toned down the similes/metaphors a little.

I very much loved the two girls journey together. It actually feels like a real friendship with them both. I found it powerful how Reiko broke down and spilled the beans on how it is actually going in their relationship. I also liked how they more honestly talked about how they see each other.
I also liked the description of rural 新潟, the cold, and the house Anna lives in.

What was a little strange to me was Rikas focus on legs and ankles. Be it Reiko, Anna or the cows she constantly compared her legs/ankles/boots to her own. Seems to be a sore point for herself regarding her own body.

Like I said the whole part at the end with the cows got kinda strange again. I think I lost the plot point a little with all the comparisons she tried to draw. The thing that left the biggest impression is that she apparently was the one who found her father dead after 3 days in his apartment in 三鷹. She seems to have some unresolved issues with that as well.

I went on a second vacation and have still not caught up on the readings, but I have finished this section!

There were some descriptions that’s dragged on for me, and I do find myself trying to rush a bit to catch up, but I feel like we got some good development in this chapter and the plot is moving along more now.

I am slowly catching up with the reading and just finished this week.

I actually found the part where she was having a mental breakdown milking the cows to be the most interesting part. Girl has major unresolved issues for sure. That said, I continue to be annoyed by how convenient her friend is for moving the plot and forcing our MC to actually think at all.

Anyone else notice she left two people on read at the start of the chapter and never replied? :joy:
