Level 9. Getting closer.
for me i think the simplest sign is if i’m doing new lessons and nothing is getting absorbed as i’m trying to memorise it. i usually can keep about 70% of the meanings in my short term but if that’s overloaded and it all wanikani looks like is random arbitrary lines and meanings on the screen i know it’s time to deload for a few days. good luck!

Another week, another レベルアップ to 七. Can’t believe I was able to do this one at max speed too. I was hoping this one is going to be a lucky number 七, but that email from Koichi is a bit tantalizing with the Yojimbo reference. Well what do you know, might even watch this movie as a first taste of Kurosawa to prep me for this level. See you all in a week!

It’s a classic. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in classic Japanese film, or samurai films specifically.
Level 10, here we go!
Made it to level 十二.
Its actually kind of crazy that I started at level 12 and have kept up my stamina so far. There were a few tough moments but everything is working out well so far.
Made it to level 8 before 2025 ends! 
Now I will have a couple of slower weeks due to the festivities but will be back shooting for the moon in 2026!

My previous target of getting to L60 in 2026 won’t be achieved as I purposely take only 1 new kanji per day.
A day late but levelling up during an 8 hour flight to London was not on my bingo card for this Christmas. But, we keep moving forward with this very merry Christmassy レベルアップ to 八。Looking forward to this level as well as I hope to get to 九 before the new year.
Side note, honestly really enjoyed watching Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa based on the email recommendation from the previous level up email. Looking forward to continuing this dabbling into old classic Japanese films with I believe the second installment of this franchise called Sanjuro.

I leveled up again! To 20! Meaning
Left the Earth’s atmosphere is my new home!
This level took 35 days. 16 more than I hoped. but I have been plenty sick. I’m particularly proud that I didn’t let of and did 100 reviews per day, even on the worst days. Retention wasnt as high for new items, but I burned stuff. Last time i had flu like illness in september it was an almost 3 week blank spot as you can see in my heatmap. Kindergarten diseases are no joke haha.
Now I’m going to try and push through no matter what and keep that deep red streak to the moon
