In related news, I had purchased both volumes of 此花亭奇譚 several months ago and finally read them recently. They definitely gave that Aria vibe that I was hoping for, and the main character in particular reminds me of Akari. For some reason there’s a a fair amount of nudity, so avoid if that’s problematic for you. Other than that, it’s wholesome and has the 摩訶不思議 moments we all truly desire. It even switched publishers and titles after two volumes just like Aqua/Aria, but the “sequel” series (called このはな綺譚) has 10 volumes and is still publishing.
I’m conflicted now. On the one hand, not a fan of nudity. On the other hand, I crave.
I’ll check the preview today and see if I can deal with it.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Harry Potter and the Philisopher’s Stone has the word 摩訶不思議 in the very first paragraph. ![]()
Those are not the 摩訶不思議s you are looking for.
Well, it certainly wasn’t the 摩訶不思議 that ダーズリー夫婦 were looking for. ![]()
Read this this morning & thought of that chapter
It’s also one of my favourites.
Venice has a number of similar puzzle games - I’ve had my eye on this one for a number of years, ever since I saw it on Travel Man, with Richard Ayoade, though there’s plenty of other options. Whether I’ll ever actually visit Venice again is another matter, though…
Looks fabulous! I love walking through new cities, especially those with history, and finding sudden walkways and flights of stairs.
Oh, very. When I’m travelling, 90% of my sightseeing that’s not “going to a specific shrine/temple/castle/museum/whatever” is just “wander down whichever street looks most interesting” - and for that matter, if I’m not trying to make a specific timetable, even my path towards said specific whatever is going to be a general meander. On the last day of my trip to Venice, I attempted to walk all the way from from Piazzale Roma to Sant’Elena, but I only made it as far as Piazza San Marco partly because there was just so much else to explore along the way. (I also detoured to ride the San Sophia traghetto, but it wasn’t running that day because of the rain, bah.)
Pokemon Go (or similar game) is actually a remarkably useful resource for this sort of exploration - just find a point-of-interest nearby on the map that catches your eye, and go see it.
