It really helps me to hear the phrase after getting it right, I just hate having to press the sound icon every time.

For me, it does play audio after a correct answer. 
Are you sure you weren’t on a kanji card without realising it?

It has never played back sound without me manually clicking on the sound icon for anything? Interesting.

Under settings / App select ‘autoplay audio in reviews’. Is that set to ‘yes’ for you?

Thank you, this will save me literally thousands of clicks. It must have been off from the beginning or I turned it off not really understanding the website at the time.
