On the way back, Berlin still is going through the decolonialization and the denazification and I noticed that the name of one of the streets in Berlin got crossed out, so I decided to look it up:

It turns out, this street previously used to bear a name of a Jewish publisher, Rudolf, but then after 1935, nazis took over and renamed the street from him, and now Germany is trying to make an effort to do things right and they renamed the street to honor his wife that worked together with Rudolf: Emilie-Mosse-Straße

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a street actually in the process of being renamed before, so that was a bit of a HUH for me today xdd

I’m listening to Jelly Jelly Radio on Spotify and the algorithm tossed me onto an episode that is (probably automatically) captioned and I didn’t even know Spotify was doing that for podcasts xdd

I kinda like how HUGE the characters are, so that you can appreciate each stroke of the kanji, I think my speed of following the text and vibing its reading and meaning (not understanding its meaning xdd) is similar to the people talking in that podcast, so I could follow a bit, but man, reading comprehension

I have a feeling that the faster I learn to read, the less I understand because I just go like 箇所に置くことで and I’m like “ah yeah, かしょにおくことで” and I move on to the next line of text having no idea what the line was about, on one hand, that’s the goal: thinking and understanding in Japanese, on the other, I don’t understand in Japanese xddd

And WaniKani, this word, 克明

intimidates me so much xdd
Especially since the first kanji is explained as “overcome” and the explanation:

just doesn’t make sense to me, as with the fact that 克服 just means “conquest” and is a completely different vibe xdd
I’ve messed up 克明 so many times that I hope that by writing this word here in this study log I’ll finally drill it into my head xddd

Birthday party… #1!

Imagine having so many friends you have to split birthday parties into parts

My privilege is still not lost to me and when I think of the fact that so many people want to come and meet up with me, I’m like

We tried many different weird things, I’d never buy myself Erfrischungs-Stäbchen, but DRAGON SLAYER understood the weird things assignment really well and that was fun too xdd

Also, the 1l mug in the background, sniped it once and it’s been a source of joy since, even if it’s cursed to a fate of not having alcohol inside of it ever since I took it, DAME xddd

Instax went into use overtime, I was trying to give the camera to different people to see what will come up, and we took a lot of really cool pictures C:

I let one of the friends on my laptop to DJ and control the music and since all my life is on my laptop and others can just click on anything, I was like “wait a MINUTE”, but she only went “nice, Nier soundtrack on Spotify is great” and added herself on my Steam, so trust exercise succeeded xddd

So the book club friends already know what kind of things I’m into, the DJ friend gifted me the My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness and I was like “>:[[[[ good gift btw xddd”

The ねこねこ日本史 is a novel, looks like something Natively level 25-ish? I need to get around to novels ^^
And the organizer of breakfasts at her place gave me a loooot of chocolate, so cool

So now, a weird tangent
I needed to kick out people from my birthday party at 9:30 because I was talking with my Japanese friend about the anime, よふかしのうた, and she read the words and was like “SURE LETS GO DANCING”, so today marks my first experience ever of having gone to a proper club clubbing xddd

It’s, both exactly what you expect from games like Yakuza and you don’t expect how much fun dancing with other people can be, but since I cycled to make it in there, my legs started giving up earlier than I’d like and my first experience clubbing wasn’t one of those 徹夜, 真夜中 that city pop is talking about xdd

Unfortunately, I only knew one song from today’s setlist, even though it was supposed to be nostalgic and 2010s music, it turns out the only one I knew was Empire of the Sun - We are the People, I’m so bad at Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys and the likes of them

BIRTHDAY PART #2 (woo!) xd

It turned out that everyone, except for one person, also had a really busy Saturday, so we tried to keep it easier and just, chill, just, vibe xdd

I got some Milkis, looking forward to getting my mom to try them when we’re in Korea, and obligatory, edamame xddd

Japanese friend made us some really nice food… including this very adorable hedgehog xddd

I also got a few very personal cards that are DEFINITELY landing on my wardrobe of friends and today felt way less party-ish and way more… intimate, just friends being in room together and vibing to each other’s presence ^^

Another 9000kcal burnt weekend, I didn’t expect birthdays can be this draining, 2.5 birthday parties afterwards if you count clubbing, I can’t wait for tomorrow’s Sunday to finally sleep long and rest up- what do you mean by tomorrow isn’t Sunday??? xddd

So first of all, I’m level 47 on WaniKani! :DDD

Third of all, for those that haven’t seen the post already, I spent the whole evening scraping all of the free manga from 一迅プラス, and then was running through Mokuro and finding out how does it work xdd

I also tried some already-existing scripts for scraping from Bookwalker and I have a feeling that this might become my main source for ebooks, because of how easy it is to scrape it

Aside from that, had a big discovery today, I finally checked out the /r/yuri_manga subreddit today and found out that a manga magazine called ガレット exists D:::

And I was like “WAIT A MINUTE, I’VE NEVER HEARD OF IT”

I found a sampler on Amazon and Bookwalker and was trying to read it, it seems like the comics posted in here are mostly too small to even get an actual publishing, and even if you have one, it’s not backed by any of the big publishing houses, so they go out of stock really quickly

They currently have an application form to write a yuri story in a single tweet

I bought it over a while back to have a souvenir from Spain, and the illustrations are pretty, and I did try to Google Translate them with my phone, so I do understand the plotline, more or less, but it’s fun to be able to attempt to read it in Japanese with my current level of knowledge, and you’d better have Mokuro if you’re going through this amount of dialogue boxes:

I did watch the first episode! And damn, the presence that Samanan has on stage is absolutely ELECTRIFYING, the aura on her

I looked it up and the actress that plays her was 24 when she was playing a role…OF BEING 29, which in most American series it’s the exact opposite, I have a feeling she really nails the role

At the beginning of the episode I thought it’d be really cheesy and I’d have to just forgive some of the elements of storytelling, but it developed to the point where I was genuinely unironically down for a ride ^^

The Actual Birthday xddd

You’re gonna be so sick and tired of this topic when I go to Gamescom xdd

But my colleagues today gifted me some flowers and wrote me a shared card with wishes and thanks, and I was so happy to see it! I love cards, so that one definitely lands on my friend wardrobe too C:

I decided to take a detour to East Side Mall on the way back, one of my favorite things about it is the stairs leading to the entrance that have been painted over by the stans of Billie Eilish over her last concert when she came to Berlin xdd

THEY EVEN MADE PADLOCKS NEXT TO THE PLAQUE LIKE WHAT THE HECK xddd

Some stone tiles right next to that graffiti’d wall also have thanks and love to Billie, so stans do be stanning ^^

And also, a friend of mine was at the Opening Night Live at Gamescom today! Getting the live updates from Geoff Keighley himself, he’s waiting for a Takashi Iizuka signature, we’ll see if he lands one xddd

No, I’m not Thai, but I’ve been watching Thai BL/GL for around 5 years now (unfortunately, gl was pretty recent because I couldn’t find many sapphic shows back then). So I have so many recs omg!! I always tell everyone, especially folks who are not used to Thai series, that the best way to enjoy them is to develop at least a bare minimum of cringe tolerance. Once you get past that, there’s no stopping, otherwise you might get stuck on a few cringey scenes and miss out on the best shows (if that even makes sense!)

My first show was Bad Buddy, and I’m not even kidding when I say this, but I was in literal ecstasy for 2 days (that’s how long it took me to finish the show). I loved it so much that I still think about the characters, and I even have some fun fanfic recs of the MCs if you’re into that lol

A “trashy” one is definitely Cutie Pie (both of them could K-word me and I’d be happy). This one in particular has a lot of cringe at the start, but mannnnn it’s SO good! You’ll either hate it or love it (I hope it’s the latter). The main leads also have a recent 2025 show called The Next Prince, and I highly recommend it because everyone’s gorgeous, the setting is gorgeous, and the relationship dynamics are super fun and entertaining!

Omg and you have to watch 23.5! (Also, sorry, when I mentioned adhd and autistic-coded characters earlier, I mixed up the shows haha. It was actually for this one!)
