A Certain Bidoof's Multi-Language Travel & Friends & I'm A German Citizen Arc 🇯🇵 🇩🇪 🇨🇦 🇵🇱 🇨🇳

It is great to often have various people sharing their cultures in such fun ways

I’m green with envy at your VN/Jisho setup
… Apparently, I need to stop procrastinating on learning how to safely load and mod things on my computer…so that I can have such a convenient display and actually enjoy a read
Without plodding along through my slow lookups and notes

I don’t understand the baby penguin thing, because I never played anything but Donkey Kong on the arcade game in the pizza restaurant where I once worked

I get it and approve :grimacing:

This VN is very specific and also the reason why I’m reading this, because there’s no setup necessary, someone went through the game, took out all of the files that make it and build a webpage that allows for you to just scroll through text forwards and backwards at any speed, plays all the voice clips, all the animations, allows to jump between chapters, and it’s just EFFORTLESS

I’ve a complicated relationship with effort where I like both things that take 0 minutes of time to set up and 10 hours to set up, but if something takes 15 minutes to set up then i’m like “boring” :sob: :sob: :sob:

But yeah, grab Yomitan into your browser and join us!

Mario 64 is a pretty old game, in the time where people didn’t know how world exploration games would be played, and it’s a sandbox with significantly less guardrails than modern games, for better or for worse

This level is iconic for that reason, that because of less guardrails, you can grab a penguin right in front of her mom and then throw the penguin off the cliff and then it never respawns again until you die, but also because of the same reason your compassion turns on and since the game doesn’t react to that in any significant way, doesn’t play any cutscenes, doesn’t play any sound effects, you feel like a psychopath for doing so xddd

Check Penguin Mom’s expression in this clip :sob: xddd

July 29th, 2026

Four new lessons on WaniKani today…

…and I can already see that 繁盛 (はんせい), prosperity, will cause troubles, mostly because I already know this word as 隆盛 (りゅうせい) or 繁栄 (はんえい) and I will definitely not be messing the spelling up xddd

Also… is it silly of me to hope for another anniversary sale of MaruMori? Is it coming?

…and they repeated the same word 4 times right next to one another so that you wouldn’t forget xddd

Actually, a bit of a trivia, I had a friend in grade school who I’m kind of reminded by Rin when she’s angry, we played some Sims 2 together and did a history arts&crafts project together, I wonder how is she doing right now xddd

TOMORROW WE’RE GOING TO RIN’S HOUSE (i hope that to play the sims 2 omg) xdddd

But yeah, it was a really weird set of blocks to play today, normally blocks take 5 times as long as those :eyes:

Life

I worked up enough courage to make it to the new members meeting of political organizing for the Green Party in Mitte!

Courage is definitely the accurate word: of course all organizing is done in German, and since the people are all politics-adjacent, they speak at 200 words per minute and as soon as somebody falters for 0.5 second, somebody immediately comes in and takes over the speaking for them xddd

But the good news was that this was a new members meeting, so a lot of instructing around was done from a very basic level. As I said, I’m interested in local mobility, queerness, Europe, so I approached that meeting and questions from that angle and got… a lot from it :eyes:

As it turns out, political activism in Berlin for parties works on three separate layers, district, Bundesland and the whole country, and each one of those blocks has their own working groups, their own events, their own sets of responsibilities and anyone can pick up the work at any time and join :eyes:
Political parties often also work with one another, and sometimes even across countries, as the European Greens and Grüne Jugend here :eyes:

The district level organizing is focused around my hometown and a bit wider, but even the district one is split into separate areas within the district, and each one has people that are responsible for that :eyes:

It was really cool that today’s meeting was organized by some of the people who already are organizers and have control over specific decision-making in areas of Berlin that I’m already familiar with :eyes:

So we got a big bootcamp today, the organizers were upset that they went 3 minutes over on a 90 minute meeting (xddd) and then the unofficial part was briefing about the current political climate, how does the current election fight look like, how can people help, both providing ideas, drafting documents, helping with posters, knocking on people’s doors and so on. The unofficial part went even longer than the official part xddd

In order to become an official member (whose only difference is the right to vote for ideas within the party and access to a mobile app that streamlines groups together), you need to pay a monthly contribution, but almost all of the events are available to people regardless if they’re members of the party or not, including the post-election meeting of the district leaders to retro the campaign and grab some snacks and chill ^^

I signed up for folding and preparing the posters for hanging them on Friday and I’ll see how it works like in a little more chill environment, and see if this whole political campaigning is a thing for me, but I really enjoyed the meeting today and I was glad that my German was good enough to be able to make a lot out of it, though by the time we were leaving, my tongue was a mush over again xddd

Anyway, see you tomorrow!

Lucky you it is actually はんじょう🤭

Wow … well I’m caught back up just in time to say I’m so sorry for what happened at pride. And amazing job connecting with community for healing as well as taking the step to potentially being able to manifest change in the world. Berlin is lucky to have you! :mending_heart:

Now, for your amusement, a compilation of past things I wanted to comment on.

(And you get to find out how long ago I started falling behind.)

ME TOO! For a number of years this was THE cake that we made for my partner’s birthday. Recently we have branched out into trying out our own Princesatorta-inspired creations. Specifically, we are working on a pistachio princesatorta. xD

Nice attitude hehe ^^

Ski jumping reminds me of flying squirrels too! I caught sight of the olympic ski-jumping competition while playing music at a bar/Irish pub and the resemblence was … I’d say uncanny, but it’s more like crazy adorable.

I wish I had had the presence of mind to comment on this while you were visiting Hokkaido! But we had curry soup at this one place, my partner thinks we were being punked, but it was kind of mind-blowingly spicy. I would’ve told you to go there and ask them to punk you, lol.

That’s so cool! & Ooh I want one

For me, absolutely not. American teen culture was super toxic back then and all about hating yourself no matter what and toxic romance and friendship is that skeleton deep under the water in that meme you have been using recently. Sometimes I watch media made for teens now and it’s all about loving and accepting yourself and others and valuing friendship highly etc etc and it feels a bit healing but also sad that I grew up in a time when you could be mentally ill and people would call you “attention whore” for it to make you shut up.

Yes, this is truly wonderful.

But wait isn’t this just the same grammar used in different contexts? (And therefore with different outcomes.)

This made me think – You are exactly the kind of person that the world needs! I bet if it is enjoyable/sustainable for you you can do some amazing things in local government.

OMG and because of everything else I didn’t remember until now to congratulate you on your new citizenship! Congratulations!!!

Uh, when’s your partner’s birthday bc I’ll be coming to the party

This is just to say that I thought it said Guten gluten and you were going to regale us with a wonderful tale about a wheat festival, with fine German beer and pretzels and activities that one would do at a wheat festival.

Looks like you had more fun than that.

:people_hugging: :people_hugging: :people_hugging:
it’s a weird thing to think that those people were also the people i’ve been spending the most time with, and although I never got any treatment like this, some of their struggles to fit in and belong have definitely brushed up on me and made me a little more avoidant and a decent bit more reserved and defensive…

Thank you! Will definitely try my best C:

I appreciate all the greetings I can get C:

Thank you for catching up on the study log! I very much appreciate it C:

…and now WaniKani shakes at this word being like “はんせい is also a reading but its the less common one, what’s the more common reading”, aaaaa xddd
At least with this comment it’ll be easier to remember it ^^

I tolerate cis people, trans people, lesbians, gays and gluten, straight people I also sometimes have to tolerate, but what can you do xdddd

July 30th, 2026

I WENT UP THAT HILL 3 MONTHS AGO
It was super fun and now it’s fun to see that location in Kobe in a video game C:

And my word today is the hair stopper ^^

…by the way, I did send a message to that friend I mentioned yesterday, she didn’t respond, probably moved away from Facebook xddd

Anyway, cool stuff ^^

Life

Today for the first time since starting Chinese I’ve come upon Bing Chilling…

…and omg, it’s an amazing meme xddd

People were sleeping on it, it’s even better if you understand how Chinese is supposed to work, the tones in his singing and the way how he stresses the BING1 QI2LIN2 IS JUST MMMMMM xdddd

But yep, today was a really weird day, if the month-ago didn’t happen, it’d be the hottest day I ever experienced

Luckily not for long, but still, I’m ventilating my flat right now to get cool air in ^^

It was really cool inside most of the day and it made me reluctant to even go out today, but I gave in and caved in a shopping mall to do some clothes shopping xdd

And, storytime, I really like the sleeveless shirts, I only have one of those and it doesn’t have a zipper on the back, so I feel like it sometimes slides off, but I haven’t given up on the idea of having one of those ^^

And yeah, long dresses, they’re super cool, except that I’m so used to the pockets at this point that just thinking that I’d have to have a purse to it makes me feel like five years older and needlessly more serious and responsible xddd

And I didn’t follow on the story of the biggest Pop Mart in continental Europe being opened, but yes, it’s opened now and it’s pretty big!

Somehow, The Monsters had a really weird collaboration with… eeee… World Cup… And I wonder what’s the overlap of the demographics of people buying Labubus and World Cup fans, I think the overlap is in the demographic of the 50 year old moms who would buy their children bootleg lafufus when they go through a beachside market on a holiday xddd

But because of the heat and not feeling like it, I spoke for like four hours on the Durtle’s Refuge Discord today and it’s been a low energy day today, definitely xddd

See you tomorrow! ^^

I was going to complain about the adding of 繁盛 over more useful words, but it did seem like I have encountered it before (and then I think you did too, NANA volume 2?)

I think I could have thought of some other words / sounds that could have been more interesting to add though (on top of my head, if someone wants examples: 俯く is in almost every novel, 洞窟 is in every FF)

Haha thanks for letting us know, now I was wondering too xD if she ever replies tell her that we we are happy you reunited and that we say hi, it won’t be weird at all! xDD

I’m choosing to trust you that you’ve found it through Manga Kotoba and not remembered it this long after reading the volume xddd

well, we’re only one country apart, so we’ll have to see the stars align somehow
But yeah, just a quick look at her profile, she’s doing really well in life, or at least was a few years ago, and I always go like “man, I wish I could also be doing good in life” not realizing I’m literally living my best life for the last while or so xdddd :sob: <3
It’s weird how the brain and comparison mechanisms work ^^

July 31st, 2026

Rant I fully expect maybe only @akatsukinoluna to get, I wasn’t buying Yurihime magazines in a while and I wanted to get it under one package… and some issues are out of stock pretty much everywhere

For 2026, I still have a choice of getting my collection by working through Amazon and Surugaya, for 2025, I most likely never will have the January and June issues at this point, so grrrr

I picked the June one today because it looked at me from a bookshelf being like "why aren’t you ever reading me, WELL I’M READING YOU NOW, absolutely BAAAANGER ILLUSTRATIONS…

…but…

…I’ve hit the wall again xddd

I could be reading “230 pages” of F/SN a day and being in the flow and going like “omg so relatable” and I open up 百合姫 and… I don’t understand what’s going on in half of the comics xddd

Granted, part of it is because I start from the middle and chapters far away in the stories, but I find reading 百合姫 harder than reading F/SN, ehhh xddd

But on the note of F/SN…

WHAT A GOOD EXPRESSION, the whole 兄の仮面が剥がれ落ちようとしている, i knew it’s one of the self-descriptive ones that you immediately get what it meant and I did the Yomitan to be able to read the 剥がれ kanji ^^

But man, today’s reading was full of plot twists, look, a forest ^^

They even brought up a new music track for the fight block I’ve read today ^^

And I finally got to the June 13th episode of Bite Size Japanese, and a day after that recording was made, LAYLA WAS SET TO MOVE OUT TO AUSTRALIA! I can already see that the title of the next episode is オーストラリアの新生活, and the next episode is 47 minutes long, so might be a fun one, finally ^^

Life

So as already mentioned, I signed up today to prepare posters for being hanged on the lanterns, my first sort of any local politics organizing ever xddd

And the leaders of the Mitte wing remembered me and were both happy to see me today! It turns out that the local Kreisvorstand ordered OVER THREE THOUSAND of those posters, and they are really heavy to carry around, so the first step of the way was getting the posters out of the building and heaps and sorting them by category, which took us a bit of time. We carried the posters in groups of twos and something like 40 minutes later, we had all of them out ^^

The organizers gave us some free lemonade and pizza for helping…

…formally introduced us to today’s task and we were off to tying posters together :eyes:
Something like maybe 20 people came today, which was really wild to see, but the work was a bit easier with so many people and I was able to get some small talk (AND BIG IDEAS TALK) in German with some of them right next to me :eyes:
And got to learn a bit about which people are more for specific causes and which ones are less ^^

I mean, exactly this small talk, I’m less of a party-allegiance and more FIGHT FOR THE CAUSE, THIS IS MY CAUSE :DDDDDD

Hope we manage to do it one day xddd

But yeah, I got on the election newsletter which will have a new post on Monday about volunteering opportunities, I only was there for like, 2/3s of all of the posters being tied, because it was also the regular book swap day!

And yeah, Sally Rooney, Intermezzo, was probably the biggest book today, I ended up collecting three and I’ll take a bit before I read it properly xddd

And yeah, fun day C:

Ahh, days like this could just keep going on ^^

Something like that

August 1st, 2026

Yesterday I praised 兄の仮面が剥がれ落ちようとしている for being perfectly understandable and easy to grasp, today I see 桜は臓硯のお眼鏡にかなったってコ and I can’t figure out how are you supposed to piece out the expression from individual words in this one, if anyone had a clue, let me know xdd

But yeah, I am doing a one-day experiment with MaruMori, and hope it’ll lead to more days with MaruMori, I picked up from my previous trial and I’m doing the “Sands of Mastery”, the N2 course:

…and, eee, of course I did read it xdd

I still don’t know if I’ll persist by MaruMori and not even how to use it, because I’m not feeling like picking up another SRS, but on the other hand, that’s the easiest way to remember grammars, so for now I’m just doing the lessons and see if I can persist with it, today we did やら and ということ grammars, both I’ve been vaguely familiar with, but I got a much better idea after reading the explanation.

And had a big spree of Bite size Japanese today:

Layla is finally one of us! She moved over with her boyfriend to her boyfriend’s parents in Australia and is grinding 2 hours of English classes every day to be able to find a job at a new continent ^^
She did say she’s something like B2-ish in English (hey! C:) and she did complain that although people see her as capable to take a job in English, her ability to formulate complex thoughts is getting in her way, and also that when she goes multiple hours a day of listening to her boyfriend’s family, waiters and people outside speak English to her, her mind goes blank and she can’t tell what they’re saying, relatable ^^

She did complain about the Australian sense of humor, that when she showed a keychain that had “Made in China” in it, her boyfriend’s father was like “damn, you must have got it from China, right???” and that was the joke and Layla didn’t find it funny at all, and I found it funny by itself and I found it even funnier that Layla wasn’t able to find anything funny about it xdd

But yeah, complaining about English-sphere cuisine, praises to boyfriend’s mom cooking, talking about commutes getting very long, being confused about being conflated with Chinese people, being interested in how big the cars are in Australia, how unaffordable the rent is, the usual - but the good news is that I had a 99% listening comprehension the whole time I was listening to her story, and although I don’t see myself returning to listening podcasts much, it felt GOOD to listen and understand this much today ^^

So, Layla, ONE OF US, and she will overtake my German before I know it xdd
I’m comforting myself that I learn 5 languages at the same time and she only does two, so hey xdd

(Still on the Hello Chinese grind! Still avoiding Anki Chinese flashcards!)

Life

So it’s August and because Gamescom is this month, and of course I’m going to be travelling a lot around NRW, I got myself a Deutschlandticket! It allows for unlimited travel with public transit and regional trains across Germany, so today I went for my first adventure ^^

Potsdam!

The last time I was here for an anime convention last year, I mostly went to the Babelsberg area, and not the historic city. Potsdam has been getting a lot of investment from private investors after the reunification of Germany, and while it’s still a big construction site, there are a lot of pretty things around the Schloss Sanssouci!

I wish I had taken my DSLR, but alas, walking around and having a Japanese podcast on the headphones is meditative ^^

It’s a very pretty place, with a huge park surrounding it, and the foliage, even though a little sunburnt right now, still does leave an impression ^^

Walking around the city, there’s of course a film museum, as Potsdam is where some of the highest caliber German films are being shot, and a lot of facades that are renovated to not resemble Berlin at all xddd

But no, the shop layout on the main street, the main station, don’t be mistaken, it’s like Berlin Ostkreuz, Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Berlin Spandau, Berlin Potsdam, don’t tell that to Potsdamers, they will be upset xddd

Technically, Potsdam is no longer in the same state as Berlin - it belongs to Brandenburg, but it definitely stands out from the rest of the region thanks to the old town here ^^
And as a reminder, Berlin does not have any old town, everything got destroyed in 1945, so hey, it’s nice to see something more classical, like:

xdddd

And yeah, I wonder how many day trips like that will I make as long as I have the Deutschlandticket C:

And yep, made it back…

…just in time for the brand new Spider-man film! Not a really big fan of Spider-man myself, but I heard people being like “YOU HAVE TO SEE IT” and I did see it and…
…well it’s definitely better than Minions & Monsters xdddd

But truth to be said, I found the film to be really, really good: the emotional conflict, especially with the antagonist, hit me in a way I didn’t expect from a superhero film and in the final confrontation I was deep in my seat being like “OH HECK OH NO PLEASE HELP THEM ANYONE AAAA”, so emotional damage has been cast ^^

What an interesting film :eyes:

Either way, see you tomorrow! ^^

This is literally what keeps me ordering stuff every other month at minimum. Check Mercari JP though, they often pop up there.

たゆたう恋 especially has been really nice. I need to finish September edition, but I’m waiting till I get the physical in.

Yeah that probably has a lot to do with it

Do you think it’s the lack of hover lookups? Or something besides vocabulary? がんばってね

And I immediately knew what scene that came from  Also, serious Shinji is such a horrible piece of shit

I would just take it as a set phrase, but: 「お眼鏡にかなう」の意味とは? 語源と使い方、言い換え表現(例文つき)|「マイナビウーマン」

you found me Yandros, aww xdd

Lack of hover lookups might be one thing, but I feel like the lack of ability to deep focus on a text is another: I feel like what makes yuri really stand out is the drawn out scenes with very little words where every word matters, and while F/SN is really verbose and you learn a lot from that verbosity, 百合姫 is the opposite: you miss one word by skimping through it and you missed an important part of the context for this chapter

August 2nd, 2026

This is a really interesting game to read in Japanese, mostly because all characters use a lot of slang, and where a lot of slang is, is also a ton of English words written in katakana xddd

But what they do with that katakana is they alternate between very formal, very weird Japanese words and very casual English words in katakana, seemingly even in the same sentence, so the autoscrolling sentences in cutscenes are definitely giving me a headache and causing me to lag behind. Good stuff though~

But I’m not feeling that incentivized to keep playing it: I feel like I’ve gotten to the part where the formula starts being a bit repetitive and there is a type of missions I find really boring, I’ll see if I keep at it :eyes:

In Fate/Stay Night world, what an expression, I don’t think I’ve even seen the first kanji truth to be said :eyes:

And as a spoiler, this line of dialogue…

IS A FREAKING LIE AAAA I’VE WATCHED THE ANIME I KNOW HOW IT GOES XDDD

And I’ve caught up to the most recent episode on Bite size Japanese, I wish Layla was covering more things about Australia, because the first episode was like “what are the expressions Japanese say when they’re lifting the table, せ〜の, what are the expressions Japanese say when something is too hot, アツ!!!”, but one of the episodes was about money vs happiness and she did mention Australia in there, so fingers crossed

Life

Schwerin!

One of the bigger cities of east Germany (lowercase on purpose xdd), capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - and a very opulent city, that unfortunately got defunded in 1946 aND IT SHOWS xdddd

I think I got my value worth from this month’s Deutschlandticket already ^^

The weather today spoiled me and I went for another walk all around the region, not just the city center ^^

Tori gates, Germany xdddd

There were a lot of parks and forests around the town :eyes:

Ultimately though, it feels a bit like a harbor city, even though it’s the closest to a lake ^^

Also, had a lot of time to try different settings on the camera, and I’m really happy of my framing and the ability to tweak settings to invoke specific expressions too ^^

Eating right next to the lake, I had a pizza today, it reminded me of how Hanoi is laid out with the lake directly in the coolest area of the town ^^

And yes, it’s very East German, meaning that those two shots are literally meters away from each other xdddd

Cute C:

No Deutschlandticketing tomorrow, except for maybe public transit, but I’m already planning a Deutschlandticket trip this month with my mom, let’s see how this one goes! C:

That more or less matches how I feel about the difference btwn reading manga & novels. So makes sense.

Possibly a relic from them trying to fit in “we originally planned for there to be an Ilya route”? But also… That’s just Ilya. One second you’d think she’s Shirou’s ally, the next second she wants to kill him, rinse and repeat

August 3rd, 2026

Yes, that’s definitely a very accurate translation xddd

But yep, so far all the grammars I remembered from Bunpro and there hasn’t been that much new, so I’m familiar with those!

And each time you look briefly at Kotomine’s dialogue boxes, you feel as if he’s just speaking Chinese with the amount of kanji he casually throws at you, but hey xddd

Life

A quick one because it’s really late!

who dis? ^^
For context, in Germany, on job interviews, it’s often written that the position is available for (m/w/d) people (men, women, non-binary people), and x is probably just an x on a passport or something, but hey, they made this cute sign next to Alexanderplatz xddd

Went to FLINTA board games today! And today I actively tried to speak German the whole time I was there, because almost everyone did,

and I left a rant on Discord about the board games today:

so weird feeling but recently each day im forcing myself to interact with german people who use german language as their first language
and yes, i feel significantly dumber doing that
i’m missing words, i’m not saying entire sentences out of the fear of not being able to pronounce them xddd
today i went to a FLINTA board game meetup 100% in german and only talked to people in german and we had a really fun girl in there that seemed to understand what im going through
but the bad part is that “seeming to understand” is not the same as “accommodating of a person who is not even going to say you something nice because she doesnt know how to say it in german” xddddd
so my heart was breaking when i left the FLINTA board games today being like “if only you spoke english, we would already be friends” xdddd

ehhh :sob:
Every new chance tried is another chance ahead, already booked another German activity for tomorrow ^^

But we played a pretty nice dice board game for 3-4 people, Ganz Schön Clever

And then switched over to Dixit, and hey, I CAME SECOND IN A GAME THAT REQUIRED CREATIVE WORDPLAY IN GERMAN, im not that bad C:

So yeah, see you tomorrow ^^

fuckin this

hana ni arashi is rated as being easy as piss on natively but sometimes im like what fucking world am i living in, these kids speak like you need to understand the colour of a tone poem before you understand what the hell they’re getting at. combine that with how japanese is a high-context language already and each volume is like a punch to the face. detective conan is easier sometimes.

i totally missed that you were at the pride parade, that shit sucks. welcome to the ‘fucked up shit happened in your city’ club, we have t-shirts

August 4th, 2026

Category: I hope I will get a chance to use 篏め殺し word in real life at least once xdddddddddd

Because so far, I feel like this word might be 無碍にする事 ^^

And the Nintendo Direct!

Huge fan of レダ and I’m probably going to try to align myself with her in the first campaign, the 主人公 design is really weird and it’ll definitely have to do some growing on me, but I think the Direct looked great, except for the language barrier really affecting me strongly while I was watching it

So, through advice/recommendation of @eagleflo and @bungakushoujo I decided to give it a shot and for as long as I still have lookups on a modded Switch, and yep, I had to look up A LOT of things in the tutorial fight and to understand the UI, but the dialogues have been much more manageable than I thought ^^

I ended up going with Blue Lions, because they’ve got the best characters, especially the IngridxSylvainxFelix triangle, but it’s just a trial run, one evening, who knows if I’ll ever get further into the game ^^

LOTS OF JAPANESE TODAY,

今日をプレイしつつ楽しかった C:

Life

To follow up on yesterday then, I was made to have a similar day to yesterday xddd

My local level political activism is taking shape, I was asked by one of the local candidates to hand over fliers for a tree watering action this Thursday to give them some relief from the heatwaves in Berlin ^^

And yeah, walking around and putting those fliers, of course in German, getting to know close to my neighborhood, has been pretty meditative xddd

…no hidden messages or anything  :folded_hands:

Still don’t know if I’ll make the tree watering, but the candidate was very grateful to me today for hanging the fliers and I gave her a map of what I followed, so hey, I’m getting to know interesting people too ^^

When I was putting the fliers, one person went out of her house, saw the flier, I introduced her to the cause and she was like “das klingt nach einer RICHTIG COOLEN Aktion, ich bin dabei”, so at least one person might come because of me xddd

The voting campaign around the city is in full swing, lamp posts in Berlin look something like this xddd

I think what I really like about the German approach to politics is that it feels like sport, and everyone has their own teams, but except for one party it feels like everyone understands the rules and wants to participate in it. Like, even if every party outside of Berlin hates the Greens, and every party in Berlin hates CDU, it still feels like a spirit of fair competition is going around, it doesn’t feel as if the hostility would prevent people from actually being friends outside of the political party allegiance xddd

But that one party has very little posters around Berlin… unfortunately it is projected to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest itself, oh well.

And then I went over to an a-spec (asexual/aromantic) meeting in the south of the city, we formed a circle with like 20 people and started talking about recent events, the attack on CSD, our recent hobbies, friending attempts, and so on. At first I was like “please is anyone interested in speaking English PLEASE”, but then people kept talking German regardless…

…so I just spoke German for another 3 hours in a circle, asking questions, following up on stories, and I’m sorry, I’m being forced to learn German here xddd

On one hand, I’m really happy for the possibilities to speak in German, because I get to finally become more articulate and maybe learn phatic expressions, how to say nice things to people, on the other, it makes it SIGNIFICANTLY harder to be myself and try to befriend the people xdd
That being said though, one non-binary person from Russia, one organizer of a German film group and one neurodivergent guy have bounced off of me way better than I expected and I’d like to come back one day!

But man… speaking German so much these days is just turning my head into a mush…

Super fun day though, see you tomorrow ^^

Yay! Once you get into it, it can be quite manageable! It’s also ok to ignore a lot of the hard words and plot since they repeat things.

Übung macht den Meister! Je mehr Gelegenheiten zum Sprechen du hast, desto leichter wird es dir fallen

Is that the one where Illya, Illya and Illya go become magical girls? /s
