I sent a few support tickets of broken series on Natively, like 百合姫 not being connected as a series, it not parsing newer volumes, wrong pagecounts, ガレット only supported until volume 14, I hope that whoever is responsible for content will fix them up, but genuinely I wonder why can’t just “trusted users” be able to edit the page details if it’s almost empty and almost nobody checks it

I read 13 chapters of manga today, so that’s a tiny marathon, so a fast round:
北国ゆらゆら紀行第, very good, very aspirational, I think the sense of adventure and newfound family is great in this one, I love the cast and that the sidekicks are living their own lives and not just being there in the background - I ordered the second volume in the basket and I hope it arrives before my sabbatical ^^
I gave it 5 stars on Natively, this is very much Bidoof-core ^^
私の百合はお仕事です, I wasn’t very convinced about the whole 嘘つき development and I was in mostly for the wordplay, but even the wordplay seemed better in the first chapters, so I left this one being a little disappointed, I might continue though because somebody on a review (yes its akatsukinoluna again) left a review that Hime might be aromantic and im like “UUUU” xddd

It’s a manga from a POV of somebody who’s very inexperienced of interpersonal experience and it’s a little hard to identify with the protagonist in this one, but Good For Her is probably the best label for this one, it ends well ^^
保健室のあの女: being thrown into chapter 14 immediately is fun xddd
I have a feeling a lot has happened this chapter and the pacing has been far from ideal, but yeah, nice illustrations, fun to read ^^

I sent one for Slam Dunk 新装版 like a month ago now and haven’t got anything back about it yet
They’re good about adding stuff but maybe not editing things, I can’t complain too much considering how useful it is overall.
For stuff like page counts you can manually change the total pages in a volume/book for your own reading session, I don’t think it updates it globally though
You should be proud, it’s really impressive to reach those real life utility benchmarks in not one but TWO languages!

The series grouping & pg counts amount to “Amazon (which Natively pulls from) doesn’t have them linked, and doesn’t have page counts” - which I think is the publisher’s fault. So every time someone adds the next month’s, it needs to be manually readjusted.
Same thing with ガレット. After vol 14, they’re listed separately on Amazon for whatever reason.
As of the latest chapter, that still seems possible fwiw. What exactly do you mean by/about the wordplay btw?

When I think of the wordplay in 百合はお仕事, I think of changing the names of the characters to have the fancier characters in the name, of the different alphabets used for writing names, for different levels of politeness to indicate comedic disconnect and being in the acting mode, that personally was cool and I wish there was more of it, it might continue, I might continue reading too ^^
also, i am picking up on different services pretty slowly, and if i manage to pick them up after a while, i tend to go pretty hard on them, so i’m looking forward to seeing me finally start using jpdb really hard in a while from now, i just need to have people convince me a little more xddd

You can’t even look up the name of the series online, because nothing shows up, but I promise that it exists, and it’s also pretty silly and lighthearted, well adjusted and well functioning, I’m happy for the protagonist, it’s just fun xddd
I was listening to a German podcast today about travel to Korea and Japan, because I was looking for something to practice my German and tie it into my next month too:
and I find it always really sweet that often, when a woman is making a solo traveling podcast, she prefaces it with “ohh, i always travel together with other people, i would never think of traveling alone, it’s scary, I thought I’d feel lonely and in danger all the time” and then grow to the realization that traveling alone is great because you can go out at any time, you can do things at any time, you don’t have to wait for anyone, so I’m really glad to hear her grow from that experience C:
I have a feeling that traveling alone is something that’s been so transformative to my life, that I might no longer remember how to compromise with other people and not travel alone when I’m going somewhere for a longer time, so traveling through Asia with my mom in September is going to be really interesting 
I really hope we’ll both nail the trip though ^^
if you have any recommendations for Seoul, definitely leave them over!

Today was DRAGON SLAYER’s last day in Berlin, and he’s back to Canada after today ^^
I was really blblbl after the whole Gamescom thing, so a fast thing I came up with, Dussmann, the biggest media/culture shop in Berlin, turned out to be a place where we got to ask one another a lot of questions about culture, media consumption, and what we’re into, all the way from Chopin, through Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX, to way-overpriced notebooks and way-overengineered tarot card decks xddd
His hand also got eaten away and DRAGON SLAYER’s body part unfortunately will stay in Berlin forever now
He got a Chopin book in German to learn the language when he’s back at home, and we went to a hot pot place, full of oversharing and with smiles on our faces C:
inb4, yes, that’s the one place in Berlin that takes Asian spicyness seriously, and as I was oversharing one of my queerplatonic sapphic experiences, a super spicy noodle glued to the back of my throat and I was like “AAAA IT BURNS WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO” and went for like a minute long coughing fit, 10/10 xdddd
I’m not even trying to be like, “ooh im so cool because i eat spicy”, it’s just a capital “a” “Adventure” each time you go for one xdd
Then we walked together to Hackescher Markt and This Was The Last Time I Saw Him
So fun story, because of the Chopin book he bought, he didn’t have enough space in the suitcase anymore, and he entrusted me with his leather messenger bag being like “if I ever see you again, you can give me this bag back, but until then, it belongs to you indefinitely”, which like, AAAAAA xdd
HE’S GOING THROUGH THE AO3 TROPES I CANT XDDDD
Also, parting ways, he mumbled something about me being his precious friend and coming at an important moment in his life and that he was able to self-discover so much in Berlin bUT I WASNT LISTENING BECAUSE I WAS BLUSHING HJBSDHBJCDBSJHBBH xddd
sooo we took a final picture together and its landing on my friends wardrobe and i will cherish the time dearly in my heart (probably xdd)

Hmm, I think I get it? There’s an event or two they start putting on in the next few volumes, starting at the end of vol 2 iirc. So maybe you’ll find some enjoyment with that. I really love when they’re in fantasy cafe/acting mode. And I think that’s one area where the anime especially excelled.
I’ll say it’s a little bit of a pain to start, but there’s settings to blacklist really common stuff, count WK vocab as known, etc. I like using it with anime the most, bc it’s smaller word sets, and you can break it into episodes, so it stops you from getting overwhelmed with review pile up (I tend to go through too many words, and then regret it a few days later lol). Everyone finds their own style for using it tho.
I actually haven’t been on it as much lately, cuz I’ve been reading a lot… But I went hard on it for like the month b4 I started Grimgar
jpdb is that friend you can call at 4am to do Japanese with… since you seems to have a sleep schedule as hectic as mine… it’s a good match… the reviews gods must be sated…

I was really worried based on the cover of today’s manga that it’d be just shallow story, but I was positively surprised at the interpersonal relationship between the characters, I enjoyed this conversation going here C:
in my own personal life i also think that the rambly people are fun, so my conversations often drift in those directions ^^
Anyway, my today’s Bunpro graph was really bizarre because it’s just… empty?
Of course, I don’t know all of the grammars that well, and it’s much easier to write them when you have a prompt that uses the exact word of a grammar rather than a separate sentence, so it doesn’t mean my N2 is there yet, but it’s nice to see the difficulty level decrease ^^
I only have one item left in Adept and a few ghosts, I’m trying to cheat less, but there’s still some sentences that take me multiple attempts to get right, so hey, just a little longer!
And the first 占い師・藤鬼 story on Satori Reader has taken a weird turn, and I remember what is the reason why I sometimes lose track of Satori Reader stories!
The Episode 11 and the Episode 12 seem to have a pretty lax connection to one another, where episode 11 ends with さやか and 藤鬼 talking to one another and Episode 12 starts immediately with ミケ being a protagonist, and going back to those two episods, you can see how did the transition happen, but then there’s Episode 15 where neither さやか、藤鬼 nor ミケ show up, and if you only read three stories at a day, and remember episode 11 to be completely different tonally and settings wise than either 12 or 15, you won’t be able to clearly connect the dots and by the time you’ve done episode 12, you will have forgotten the characters in episode 11 instead
But I’m enjoying the weirdness of episode 15 already ^^
Life
Today, a person I met on our book swap wrote me a message that she wanted to go for a walk in a park together, so I took her for an offer! Still on the fumes of the last couple of days that have been really, uhh, EXTREME on my feelings receptors (xddd), today started off a little more wholesome than the previous days ^^
We went through Mauerpark and into plots of land that are used for summer houses in the middle of the city, and the weather definitely spoiled us ^^
The plots of land have been rented over by German people something like 20 years ago though and nobody has even a chance to rent anything anymore, but the corridor area still makes for a pretty climactic walk ^^
Also, animals! Those ones that can survive in the summer home back when you have to return back to the nasty reality out there xdd
Oh and somebody was trying to bestow on the others a book about ACTUAL PROOF EVIDENCE THAT YETI EXISTS, I knew it!!
The weather really did spoil us today ^^
Buuuut then we went to a restaurant and grabbed some ice cream and it was only downhill from here, because as usual, I started oversharing, she started oversharing, and my cheeks started flushing and the conversation speed sped up and by the time we were parting ways with one another, she already started asking me about queer topics, so hey, how come some people make it so easy to open up to them i dont get it xddd
Anyway it was great xdd
She helped me bring my bike to a bus station, took on a bus and then we traded some follow-up things on Whatsapp, and yeah, I really have a feeling it would be nice to meet up somewhere in October as well, even if just for another walk like this one C:
Also, I read My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness, as something similar to this one was a topic we touched on (queerplatonic relationships are basically female friendships but sometimes with guys confirmed???), and I have a feeling it’s a pretty simple and straightforward story… and yet still I’m really glad that someone wrote it down, because it feels like it could be a great conversation starter with people who haven’t actually had that conversation in their heads and it’s the first time they’re challenged with their thoughts C:
But for those who read it…
One thing I'm kind of curious about and wish she elaborated more on
is how the eating disorder, self-harm wounds and so on, affect her being perceived by others, I have a feeling she glazed over that topic when the actual description of the intercourse took place: from my personal experience in queerplatonic relationships with people, I always yearn to connect with a person by being interested in those wounds and marks on the body, because they make me understand a person more and it feels incredibly vulnerable to open up this way to another person.
I wonder how would I react if I were in either the role of the hostess or the protagonist of the manga in this specific situation
I like to think I’m pretty good at this whole (homo)romanticity thing and I’m probably closer to the hostess in that regard, but I wonder how would I react if I started seeing signs that somebody has been going through a very tumultuous time growing up

I think it’s an interesting way of marketing your poetry, but I definitely won’t chase after them
On one hand, I’m a fan of how raw and angry this poem is, I feel like it just seeps of resentment, on the other, yeeah, that’s probably a person I don’t want to cross my roads with xddd
Also, smh white people (this person is like, SUPER WHITE, super shaking my head xddd)
It looks like an art from a demoscene or those weird raves from movies that feature parties that don’t look this way in reality xddd
Today’s book club had a new person from America come, at a double citizenship, so he wasn’t oblivious to the issues of European folk, though he did mention that his biggest culture shock was the culture of politeness and using “Sie” and “du” depending on the level of separation with a person when you’re talking German
I’m like, pretty torn on it, because it works great in fiction, and I love Japanese pronouns, and suffixes are fun to play around with, but if there’s someone that just EXPECTS for you to use a specific level of formality and being kind to them, then unfortunately, I drift off, I’m definitely camp 私の百合はお仕事です, honorifics are to be performed xdddd
It’s so sweet when people go from lastname-san to firstname-kun though ^^
And yep, that was the last day of summer in Berlin! From tomorrow on, back to clouds, rain and temperatures below 24, I’ll catch up on some sun next month, but if I were just staying in Berlin, I’d definitely call for a refund for this summer this year xddd

My package from Japan came!
A while ago I would’ve called it overspending and that I’ll never get to all of those, but then I remembered that my Natively account is only a month old and it already looks like this xddd
This is the very last time I’m able to take this picture though, because I’ll probably be forced to read digitally when I’m in Asia, plus, Mokuro, plus, ガレット didn’t get printed for the volume I’m reading right now ^^
Highlights though, I’ve bought 陰キャギャルでもイキがりたい after @akatsukinoluna’s recommendation that the difficulty level will be higher for this one, Raidou ファミ通 because my dumb brain still hopes that I’ll be able to play this game in Japanese before 2040, Ghost Trick to add to my never-ending backlog and finally own the game physically after I fell in love with it something like 15 years ago. and 都市伝説解体センター because I read a few articles in Japanese magazines about this game, I’d really like to experience it in Japanese if I end up playing it ^^

Back when I was in Japan a year ago, I bought a double digits amount of volumes of ちはやふる, because they were ￥１１０ each at Book-Off and at that time I was convinced I’d read them quickly, and then realized my Japanese wasn’t anywhere close enough, so I just read the first chapter or two over the Spring Marathon and that was achievement enough. But now I READ THINGS FINALLY???
Okay, there are some exceptions xddd
This was a page today that made me go “oof”, both with the amount of characters and the difficulty of actual read, but aside from that, a lot of story and character development happened in this volume, I think I’m starting to understand Colleen’s Manga Recs’s “READ CHIHAYAFURU” xdd

Went to a dance workshop today!
I expected going into this one that I’d be really stiff, and surprise surprise, I am really stiff xdd
Our teacher was trying to teach us some basic moves of afrobeat, and she taught us how to get in the groove and rhythm of the music, but one of the moves that was being done in quick succession required for us to move right leg, jump on the left leg, move right hand from right ear to left ear and then fade in front of the face, almost at the same time, and that one was too challenging for me, even now xddd
It’s exactly as if you’re trying to play piano with both hands and right hand and left hand are not synchronized, except that here you keep track of four limbs, not two ^^
But I had a great time! Definitely could see my workouts involve more dancing too ^^
Also, on the way back crossed by Hackerscher Höfe and I always adore the stickers and human creativity on display there, I’m gonna be on a lookout of those spots outside of Germany next week ^^
And I tried to get into Ado on my way back from work aand her genre of music is called “android anime rhythm gacha difficulty level 13 combo 1484 fc”
she does have this insane mad voice register she gets into and goes full screamo every 16 bars wtf xddd
