Hello (folklore) folks! 
I’m also in the Manly Racers / Study Buddy Race thread and I love the camaraderie of racing together, plus it will be cool to learn some Japanese folklore along the way!
With my intended pace of 20-30 days per level, I am right on track to hit level 60 by mid-2026! “Mid-2026” rather than summer because if I’m still in the southern hemisphere then it won’t be summer for me

I don’t have a specific target in mind - at my current pace I will hit level 60 this year, but I’m not sure I intend to keep that pace. As the kanji gets more niche, I will probably allocate more time to reading etc.
Really happy with my progress so far. I’m on my second reset. Previously it took me MONTHS to get this far. Since the last reset, I’ve been doing this for 88 days. Last time I was on level 10, I think I was stuck for maybe a year and a half. Once I get past it, it’ll all be very new content for me.

Here comes my first level up after exactly 10 days! And a first Mastered turtle since my reset.
And now comes the interesting part! As we’re entering the year of a dragon, let today’s topic be the Seiryuu, or the Azure Dragon!
Azure Dragon, also known as Qīnglóng in Chinese, Cheongryong in Korean and Thanh Long in Vietnamese takes a special place in Asian culture as one of the four legendary beasts who’re said to guard four cardinal directions (with Seiryuu guarding the East).
In Japanese culture these creatures are also believed to protect Kyoto from each of its sides, and the city has temples dedicated to each of them. Seiryuu is represented in 清水寺, which is located in Eastern part of Kyoto. Before the entrance of the temple there is a statue of the dragon, which is said to drink from the waterfall within the temple complex at nighttime. Under that main hall said waterfall flows into a pond, where visitors and catch and drink water, wich is believed to have wish-granting powers.
Since Seiryuu governs over the East where Sun rises, he’s said to bring wealth and prosperity. He’s also believed to bring in bountiful harvests with the blessings of rain. Out of the four legendary beasts he’s considered to be the noblest one.

Here to join as well. Have been a member since 2016, but never got past level 23 before resetting to level 1 again a few years ago.I’m going to be humble and set my goal for this year at level 30 XD

perhaps… but you’re also going through levels much faster than I am, so I don’t think its unreasonable for you to catch up :3
Yes, but don’t forget, you’re going at a pretty fast pace, too So, this might be a more interesting race then it looks at first
