This is the weather we’ve had for 3 days now,

I’m really mentally on vacation… leaving a week from thurs… off to camp and play radio and then after radio weekend… do some photography/4x4/ and maybe a little more radio games…

I eventually realized when I say Thursday, I always have to split my reading across 2 days (24 hours total, just half and half-ish), so that really means starting Wed. Taking liberties on top of liberties 
Looking back I was surprised to see I managed 15k characters an hour last time! Making improvement hard on myself 
. Well, as I’ve done the last few readathons, I’m reading Umineko once again, and I’m on break right now but I’ve read just over 3 hours, and…
48k characters! I’m just above 15k like last time. So at least I’m maintaining speed. And last time was a bit of a rough time for me so I stopped at just 4 hours and took it more casually, for me. This time I should be able to go longer, so hopefully I’ll put up a good total to get us started with.
I had always thought something like 20k characters would be a speed I’d be fairly happy with, so I’m not far, but it does need to be noted that this isn’t how I normally read. Most of the time I’m much more laid back and focusing on getting the most out of the lines so I’m way slower, this is me pushing for speed. So in that way the goal is further than it sounds, cause I have to believe I could read that fast, and faster, eventually. 頑張る
Have a few screenshots to liven up the place and show you, while Umineko isn’t the hardest thing in the world, it can have a bit of a wide vocab and long trains of thought. Will be back with updates in a bit!
Nah, that’s fine, I’m actually planning on being a Thursday starter too so I’ll open up the results post for everyone tomorrow when I wake up. Thanks for getting us warmed up as the very first reader!
Update time! With 6 hours read, I’m at 92,490 characters! Getting tired, struggling more, though I think (hopefully) I’m a bit less exhausted than past readathons. I have a little time to read after I get up thanks to breaking this across 2 days, depending on my energy level we’ll see how much further I get but I should be breaking 100k again for sure and, with any luck, beating my personal records since the two times I did this I always basically stopped somewhere close after 100k. Will be back with my totals after I get some very needed sleep. Until then, I’ll leave you with this message from Ushiromiya Maria.

soggy’s summer fun!
I’m going to try one of those afternoon-afternoon readathons because I think if I have a sleep in the middle I’ll be able to fit in more hours! I’ll be reading from roughly 1pm Thursday to 1pm Friday. I’d like to aim for an hours-based goal this time, because I’ve never read more than 5 hours in a readathon. To accomplish this goal I’ll be reading whatever I want- manga, novels, children’s novels- to keep things fresh for long hours of reading!

I accomplished my goal of reading for 7 hours! 
Usually I only read from 1 or 2 sources during a readathon, so this is a new record as well with 8 sources! Definitely my most varied readathon reading so far. I read 181 novel pages (in 5 hours and 5 minutes), 39 children’s novel pages, and 164 manga pages.
As you can see my reading speed varied significantly depending on the source. My slowest book was Naruse, at 2.5 minutes per page. Interestingly, 夜市 is rated one level above Naruse on Natively at the moment (L30 vs 29), but I found it much easier to read as you can see from my speed. I was even reading it faster than Moomin 
I think the pages are smaller!
Overall I had a very enjoyable readathon experience, and it felt successful to me! Looking forward to cheering on all the other readers for the rest of the weekend, go go go!!

Everything is flooding here. Roads are flooded,
houses are sitting 2 inches above the water line, and yards and parking lots are flooded.
So far l’m good. The water in my yard is
about 3-4 inches deep, but my house sits well a ove the water. I should be safe for reading.
