☀ 2026 Summer Solstice 24-hour Readathon

I’ll be joining as well! I have many 太宰治’s novels I want to read so it’ll be my mini marathon! :books:

I will purrticipate, although there’s always a chance something might happen that would purrevent me from doing so – especially as I’m just a small clumsy cat… trunky_rolling

But I will do my best wricat

I’m looking forward to this! :slight_smile:
After a lot of mini readathons with the gang (@pocketcalamity @Kami_Neko @Redglare @Mioneko @Ditto20), I’m ready to beat some records!!

Don’t have a specific goal in mind yet, but I do want to continue Nausicaä :head_shaking_vertically: Not sure how far I’ll be into the story when the readathon rolls around so I’m not gonna make a bold claim of finishing the story only to then end up having to read four books in a 24 hour period :woozy_face: We’ll see

Yay, readathon season again!! Thank you @soggyboy for hosting this time, and best of luck @taiyousea with the move!

I’ll be returning from a holiday a day or so before the event so how much I’m able to read depends on how tired I am after that, but I’ll give it my best shot! Will likely read on the Sunday but we’ll see. I’ll make my home post nearer the time :blue_heart:

I look forward to the readathon each year! It’s a great way to kickstart my summer study. I’m still trudging my way through よつばと; my goal is to free-read (without lookups) whatever volume I have yet to begin. Just moved into a new place with a nice balcony, so am hoping for good weather.

Not sure what I’ll end up reading, but I should be safely moved by this point so I can hopefully participate! I have grand plans to tackle my TBR in multiple languages this summer, since it feels like reading season even though I don’t have summer vacation anymore, haha. I’ll try to time it so I have a Japanese TBR book for the readathon! Looking forward to seeing everyone’s updates :slight_smile:

Definitely participating! Thanks @taiyousea for creating a brilliant community event and thanks @soggyboy for taking on the hosting role:woman_bowing:t2::woman_bowing:t2: I read a whole children’s novel last Readathon (イエーイ♪ ) so I’m hoping to top that with an 大人向けの本 - probably a collection of short stories, but haven’t yet decided. Will probably be reading on Friday the 19th, but again, still deciding.

okay, i’m going to try again
hopefully this time i remember my original plan to hide away in my room all day xD
(forgot for the spring readathon and ended up getting too frustrated to continue)
i do wish they weren’t always on the weekend, tho… ^^;
i might join on either friday or monday

last summer i managed 263 pages in 260 minutes :sob:
i can hope to somehow do better, but i certainly don’t expect to

:waving_hand: I. will read. something. Very out of practice but readathon is good motivation :+1:

I’m packing for my move and found “The Mouse
Bride” in Japanese. I don’t even remembe getting that, but l’ll be reading it for the
ReDathon.

Now, back to packing. Ugh!!

Wait you’re not taiyousea

sneaky isn’ it!!! soggy hit tai with a nap ray and abducted her… so now here we are…

soggers in charge!

im still on the fence if im going to do anything this time around…cuz schedules busy and lack of motivation…

Does this pose a risk to the paper for anyone reading physically in the readathon?

No, not at all, you can trust me with your books :palm_down_hand::droplet::open_book:

You need to take a few precautions, but if you follow this lady’s advice, your book will not be harmed:

Shower sogging FTW :rofl:

:person_running: 2 weeks until the readathon! :person_running:

Readathon Reminders :trade_mark::

  • You might see some people setting huge goals, like reading for 10+ hours or finishing 20 volumes of manga. This doesn’t mean you have to do the same! All participation is welcome, even if you read only 1 minute and 1 page during the entire day.
  • Some people like to compete, and some people don’t! If you see a little friendly competition between readers to beat someone’s time or amount read, that doesn’t mean you have to do the same thing. Don’t compare yourself to others if you don’t find competition fun.
  • Set goals that YOU can achieve! If, on a normal day of reading, you can read 10 pages in 1 hour, you will not suddenly be able to read 500 pages during the readathon, because that would be 50 hours of reading. Take stock of your normal reading skills and speed, and set a goal that’s fun and attainable.

just gotta ling ling 40 hours it bay-beeeee
