☀ 2026 Summer Solstice 24-hour Readathon

:sun: pocketcalamity’s Home Post :sun:

The Solstice weekend is finally here! I’ve taken an extra day off work so that I can really enjoy my time reading without feeling guilty about needing to do chores or something. Also telling my coworkers that I took a day off to participate in a Japanese readathon has been fun! hehehe

I am very proud to announce that after reading every day this year so far I’m feeling comfortable enough to read the genre that I actually want to read, namely yuri! So let’s have a look at what’s on the menu, shall we??

Winter 2025 115 5hr53min 3
Spring 2026 491 9hr07min 4

Using info from the Spring Read Every Day Challenge (1275 pages in 56hr23min), I’m averaging about 22 pages per hour, which seems about right. Using this as a guideline, here are some goals I have!

:goal_net: Goal Central :goal_net:

Read for 7 hours
Finish two volumes of manga
Read 150 pages of manga
Read from 4 different sources
Stretch goal: finish a third volume
Strech goal: Read for 9 hours

I’m excited to join @Mioneko and @Kami_Neko in reading Yuri this weekend, as well as @javerend who I spy reading a Yuri VN! It’s not too late to add a little yuri into your summer reading, y’all!

I did also add ハピネス, which is decidedly not yuri, because it’s been a bit of a tradition to read it and it’s a good stat booster easy read for when I’m getting fatigued. I’ve also got things ranked in terms of challenge level to me personally, as I’ve spent the week preparing by reading the first chapters of each new series.

The last puzzle piece I need to figure out is when exactly I’ll start my reading. I think I’ll probably start on my Saturday afternoon once my obligations are done, but I’ll probably just play the start time by ear. I do like the @soggyboy approach of putting a sleep between reading sessions, which I can probably do since I took an extra day off!

Anyway, happy reading to all, and don’t forget to take stretch breaks!!!
