šŸ’Ž Final Fantasy 1 - Week 6

Well, one big problem with your monk is that it’s a thief.

Wait, what…?

Right there next to the name: ć‚·ćƒ¼ćƒ• . So I guess you accidentally picked a class you didn’t mean to? Get some clothes and weapons on that guy

I seriously know I chose a monk when I started, what the heck…? Ugh, well, now I’m embarrassed…

Haha we’ve all had something like that happen at some point, don’t worry about it. Glad you took a screenshot.

Well, I guess I’ve been playing with an accidental handicap… :sob:

Getting this far on essentially a 3 person team is impressive!

That thief is extra sneaky, don’t trust him.

He will also get massively better in a couple of weeks after the castle of ordeals

By the way if you look at the screenshot at the very top of the FF club main thread you’ll see that I originally made the same mistake…

That does make me feel better that I’m not the only one. I think that what happened was, I created my team, decided I wanted different names and restarted…and was far less careful when choosing classes the second time. Whoops…

My Detective Conan team is totally ruined! Actually, wait…

When I play rpgs, I try to use names from a favorite show and then match the characters between the game and the show. This time I did Detective Conan, which made this mistake particularly frustrating. I named my monk 蘭 (Ran) because she’s a karate champion in the show, and thief is totally wrong for her! Only…I realized this morning there’s actually an in-universe reason for this mess-up. Kaito Kid, phantom thief extraordinaire, disguised himself as Ran (yet again) to sneak onto the team, and he was just unmasked!

Yeah I think I made the same mistake, since the thief is the default class for the 2nd slot. Also of all the classes, the monk and thief are the only two that are somewhat easy to mix up if you’re not super familiar with the game. They roughly use the same color palette (blue hair and brown clothes for the thief, brown hair and blue clothes for the monk), the sprites are similar and they both use 3 letter katakana class names…

Okay I made it

Fun stuff. When getting into one of the earlier grotto/dungeon, I realized my health potions were runnning low. So before I went to Saarda, I went to a different town and got 99 of health and toxin potions. Anyway, made it to our friend. Onto the next.

Week 6

Some of the dialogue in Melmond was tricky for me but overall, this week felt easier than last. Maybe because there was less text. lol Made it to the star ruby pretty easily for the most part but disaster struck when my red mage was killed and then my other party members finished the fight on the same turn. Now she will be forever slightly behind in exp.

I’ve almost caught up in my Anki deck but now I’m going to ruin that by adding this week’s vocab. I think I will take the weekend off after all to give myself a chance to cycle through everything and hopefully have it stick. I forgot to update my level and playtime last week but now I’m currently at level 21 with 5:32 playtime.

Ido-chan and the church

Gone in the PSP version also!

This weeks progress

The dungeon was a little harder than I expected. Apparently I stumbled into a corridor with a giant fight every single time you stepped on a tile, leading me to using a lot of mana up early on. This certainly didn’t help with my characters being a little overleveled either. At least I’ll have enough gil for upgrades for a while.

Sad news for the party though. We knew it was going to happen one day, but I’m regretfully announcing that my party exp is no longer at a matching amount.
I let a party member stay petrified thinking I could cure it after the fight and not waste a turn, but apparently that counts as a condition that prevents exp, and the party will never be the same.

You lasted way longer than I did, I think I gave up around week 3 lol
