I’ll probably give in to my curiosity and start reading this after I finish コンビニ人間 and get caught up with 一週間フレンズ. Hopefully in the gap until キッチン starts I can gauge how difficult it is for me to read and in case it seems doable set a reasonable pace.
Floflo says I know the same percentage of vocab for this one than I do for ハルヒ though so it looks like it’s going to be a tough one . I’m probably overusing the dictionary and not learning as much as I could knowing so little vocab but I guess as long as it’s fun and I’m learning something it’s okay if its not that efficient, r-right?
I have a confession to make: I started reading this last night. I read the prologue and was surprised at how little vocab I had to look up at first I guess until the first mention of a 魔法少女 but of course that didn’t last long . I’m like 4 pages into the 1st chapter but hopefully I’ll have time to read some more tonight.
It looks like the first chapter is quite long so it may be a while. I’m still not sure how I’m going to manage so many books/manga at once, so we’ll see about the pace.
I’m really curious how things will develop into…the situation described in the synopsis
The prologue is super easy, but the first bit of chapter 1 at least has a ton of exposition. I’m looking up everything because I’m curious about a lot of the details, even if much of it wouldn’t matter for the overall story.
I noticed that I according to floflo apparently know a larger percentage of the vocab in this than in SAO 1-8(especially 8, I added 3-8 using the custom order thing), so maybe I’ll start reading this sooner than I said I would since it seems like it’ll be a tiny bit easier vocab-wise and the SAO books aren’t going too badly even without looking a ton up, so I figure this might be okay too if I just learn some of the highest freq words.
And in that regard, I read the prologue before posting this. Probably won’t get seriously started on it until at least next week(after I’ve caught up on re:zero and finished SAO 4, hopefully), but voted for “currently reading” for now anyway, since I have started and at least intend to continue soon-ish.
I don’t remember exactly and don’t have time to check right now, but I think a bit below 50. I’m pretty bad at actually trashing stuff(and I saw a lot of easy katakana words in the list) and there’s a pretty decent amount of stuff I know the meaning of but not the reading (at least not well enough to trash it) though, so it’d probably be higher if those were included
Please don’t read this unless you’ve finished chapter 2
Really, please. I don’t want to spoil anyone.
Spoiler for the end of chapter 2
Last chance!
Damn, just when I think “this character is pretty cool” she dies I honestly wanted to see more of gang leader ルーラ…
I thought it was interesting the the plan to get rid of her came from スイムスイム though. And that she didn’t do it for some easily predictable reason like revenge or something. She seemed genuinely sad after dropping ルーラ at the side of the road.
Her death is spoiled heavily in one of the pictures at the start though, not cool.
I finished the section introducing リップル. I’m pretty satisfied with the book so far, though it’s obviously really early. There’s still a lot of exposition, but it hasn’t been too dry. Though it was a bit unnecessary to explain that 魔法少女育成計画 is free to play by having a paragraph explaining how the rise of smart phones brought about free to try, pay to play games. Seemed like a little much to me. The writing style is a little difficult to understand, but hopefully I’ll get used to it soon.
