葬送のフリーレン ・Frieren 🧝‍♀️ Volume 9

It will be a lot better in animation (and with someone else’s subtitles lol). One thing I was noticing as I was going through is that a lot of the action panelling in the manga is… kinda crap honestly. It’s hard to tell what is going on sometimes.

There’s a scene in the second episode of the second season, the story when they’re retrieving the stolen sword. The one with the under-chin view of Frieren. Can’t remember what manga chapter it was, but the action scene in the chapter largely occurred between panels. In the anime, though, they completely went all-out on it. Action! Explosions! Memes!

So yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to the anime’s take on this arc.

I feel like Frieren is at its best when we are in short lighthearted stories that wrap up in a single chapter or maybe two. But hopefully this all building to an enjoyable finale (eventually). I did enjoy where the Aura arc built up to after a slow start.

I’ve needed to get ahead on bookclubs for one reason or another and finished volume 9 this week. I would say the rest of the volume gets more enjoyable.

yeah I read this weeks read yesterday before the post went up and it was a lot better.....

no dengen… does that mean I don’t like scenes with dengen…

but it was more stuff is happening, more story is being told … instead of just jabberwocky yadda yadda… we need backstory but sometimes it just doesn’t resonate

am curious though… all this city and bodies and everything are perm gold (but different)… but are they… in this universe will they reverse it or not?

… will anyone survive… dr stone moment?
the ones impaled though probably don’t stand a chance…
but who knows this is fiction and there are elves and magic…

Buut, Dengen and Frieren are actually similar in their reliving of the past!
Also I didn’t get how the lord had control over マハト if he’s so strong…

the bracelet… it was explained earlier on that it forced a semi-human condition…but the irony was how the spell was applied…given demons don’t have the same values / meaning on doing ill will/harm the conditions given might have been ok for a human…however… not a human …

also gold that isn’t gold…normally people couldn’t get rich off that…we need more of the arc to unfold to understand what is actually going on …

Chapter ending: Interesting that Macht ends up liking / being facinated with humans, though I wonder about his statement 「これは好意だ。」At first, I though it was his absurd (lacking guilt) feeling that HE was being kind by allowing one of the children to live. But maybe, it’s the children’s hesitation to kill that he refes to as kindness?

reply

it’s interesting… he does seem a little bit different but seems like a psychopath…(or whatever the right term might be)

can recognize emotions but cannot feel them but wants to understand…

but since inherently different/demoney… probably won’t ever be able to … hence the priest feeling sorry for him…

guess will find out in vol10…

Or he just doesn’t know what it means :see_no_evil_monkey:
But I think it’s the first - the children took the blades after all, so he refers to his own emotions… could he feel it?

やほー!

Vol10?
certainly we haven’t been forgotten…
probably just lost in the Savana :desert:

wonder what desert creature @mitrac is petting… guessing some elephants :elephant: or something… maybe a lion :lion: … just avoid the rhinos…they can be mean :rhinoceros:

in the meantime read the first chap of vol10 already…

Sorry, getting trampled by elephants… vol 10 coming :innocent:

And we’re live - Volume 10 thread is up!
