That is just so interesting! I would not have guessed that Maiko House got away with just 627 unique words.
Most people have found the thread so it’s safe to say the proposed schedule stands! I’ll get the table up by the end of the week so it’s ready for you to do the spreadsheet partitioning.
Thanks! I’m looking forward to trying your prelearning strategy for the first time
this may be the wrong place to ask but is there a way to get it through Amazon US rather than Amazon.jp? I want to get it for Kindle but I would like to avoid having two different Amazon accounts and having two Kindle logins. I tried to force Amazon US to show it to me in Japanese and it simply refused to acknowledge it existed in any other language than English.
For ones like this, we couldn’t mention them if there were (as WK doesn’t allow linking to sites)
There are some places for graded readers and such online that are free, and Bookwalker often gives away free volumes of manga. This thread tracks those each week! (With any sensitive tags removed from the automated search, so you don’t have to scroll through the many, many, many free manga that are of a more salacious persuasion, if that bothers you).
As an aside, generally, if it’s free on Bookwalker, Amazon JP has it for free also.
The spreadsheet is getting updated by @ChristopherFritz to split up the vocab by week, so wait for a message that it’s done! Sorry for the confusion, I’ll put a note in the home post to mention that!!
im so upset
might have to throw away my complete set of frieren manga
seriously though figured i already had too many book clubs and then saw the “gentle” schedule and thought OHHHHHHH I can probably make this work and was just peaking ahead
wanted to do the survival book but haven’t had time to even start/catchup
why does there have to be soooooo much I want to read (first world problems )
the frieren vocab sheet only puzzled me because
I was preparing some other bookclub sheets for the club we spawned separately from the LGBT+ bookclub thread but 18+ (wk people but not on wk forums - so we use the same sheet) but didn’t want to overload what I’m already or plan to read.
then considering I don’t have all the awesome programming extracting skills ChristopherFritz does so just build them by manually (the horror )
There certainly is something odd in your view, as this:
…should look like this:
If it hasn’t magically corrected itself yet, and closing and reopening the browser doesn’t fix it, what browser/device are you viewing it on? Are any other book club spreadsheets having this issue for you?
If you’re not currently in the middle of reading 20 different manga/books, are you even trying to learn Japanese?
I’ll get the vocab spreadsheet split into week-tabs today!
this has always been the case - definitely a browser thing (brave)
not a huge issue (works just fine just looks off - I just live with it)
2 words for you
working on 1 shosetu and a few manga ongoing simultaneously
but with work and everything else - still slacking I guess
don’t know how some people can read super fast and manage
I’m not one of them
Myself, I’m probably in the moderate speed range. There’s no way I can keep up with the Advance Book Club, and even intermediate is a stretch. (And of the various manga I’m in the middle of, I’m typically reading one chapter each across several per week. Some series end up getting overly neglected…)
The only reason I’m beyond my reading goals for the year to date is because between my bus commute and reading during breaks/lunch time, I’m able to get in at least eight hours of reading each week.
Sorry I feel bad about bringing it up, because it was probably a lot of work to get the schedule up and I appreciate that, just wondering about the days, I feel like usually the dates are Saturdays but in your schedule it’s all Fridays? (the threads are usually already up on Fridays, which I like since sometimes I start reading Saturday morning and want to write my thoughts somewhere)
don’t worry too much about the schedule it is fixed at this point
but really - no one is going to care if you start a day or two early or late
and if they do then
last time I checked we didn’t have a bookclub patrol knocking on front doors and taking names
taking care to avoid 高木さん
or maybe I have somehow avoided getting caught
