Hey there! I’m still reading the pages this week
I was talking with a friend about the manga, and he asked me if “Tamamo” was the Japanese word for “fox.” To my surprise, after researching if Tamamo had any other meanings besides the name itself, I discovered that Tamamo-no-Mae is actually a figure in Japanese mythology :hear_no_evil: please tell me I’m not the only who didn’t know that, don’t leave me alone on this one  And of course the description of her story is closely related to the character in this manga.

I’ll put the link here for those who are interested: Tamamo-no-Mae - Wikipedia

Ohhh, so my teacher was right about foxes being up to no good (as the legend says on wikipedia), I told you @TobiasW :speak_no_evil:
Actually I didn’t know about that myth, but it’s good to know! I did looked for the meaning of the name but only about the kanjis, the first kanji is jewel and the second one is algae, I couldn’t get anything from that so I thought there wasn’t more to it.
Also, at the beginning when the protagonist meets tamamo he gets scared by remembering some tale about a fox eating people so maybe that could be an indirect reference to that? I’m not sure

As you’ll quickly find out if you search たまも on Google images, the name is used for a lot of other demi-fox characters too, most notably one in the Fate series. So at least in オタク circles these days, the name Tamamo is pretty well-known to be associated with foxes, but I’d be curious to know whether the average person on the street would make that connection or not!

Oh, interesting! I only knew that Tamamo-no-Mae is a character in the Fate series, but I had no idea that it’s based on actual kitsune legend. (I should’ve known though - it’s Fate, after all. That’s what they do.)

And with that… time to head into the penultimate week, reading the first half of the last chapter. See you over here:

Amazing! I remember hearing about 殺生石 when it happened, on social media  I would have never thought it could be related to our beloved Tamamo, the world is a small place after all
