気になってる人が男じゃなかった Volume 4

Pages 107-110 are some of my favorites in the volume. I just love how open and blunt the whole exchange is.

Ah yes, I’ve found that one!

How did we get here? Have we had a two-year timeskip since the last chapter? They’re drinking alcohol now, so probably. None of that, thanks - I’m not reading this series for just the highlights, where’s the process?

Generally not a big fan of timeskips in my fiction - it gives me such a sense of dicontinuity. Like “I just spent half the book meeting these characters, and now you’ve taken them away and given me some strangers who just happen to be wearing their names and faces”.

And who is this シュウちゃん? A new characer?

Agreed, it’s a big turnoff. Idk if this means that the series will end soon because does that mean that the mangaka is getting tired of making it??

I read ahead a little and I don’t feel like the author plans to quit this series, but I do feel like they’re turning towards making the series more about Aya and Mitsuki’s mental health struggles, which is needed in Japan imo, but not my personal cup of tea.

Yeah, the first half of this volume is probably my favorite part of the series and the second half is my least favorite.

Regarding page 161, I’mma just leave this here: https://mchfs.net/

Think I found this reading kinda frustrating in general. Because we’ve had this big timeskip, Mitsuki’s new band has apparently sprung fully formed out of the narrative purely in order to suck out Mitsuki’s soul. Why’s she got a band? Why’s she need a band? Isn’t she a soloist? A singer-songwriter? And why’s she joining a pre-existing band instead of forming her own?

Mitsuki deserves better than this band, the band deserves more character than the influencer stereotypes they’ve been given, and I think I’m actually getting a bit tired of Arai-sensei’s style of maintaining relationship tension between Mitsuki and Aya purely by introducing a succession of one-note characters. Why do we need this kind of tension?

Aww.

100% agreed. It feels really annoying like did producing a CD with the producer’s daughter go nowhere? He seemed to be pretty interested in Mitsuki’s music. It all feels like bs in order to explore more of Mitsuki’s and Aya’s mental health struggles by time skipping the enjoyable parts of their lives
