I’m curious as to why, when learning the word for ‘breakfast,’ WaniKani teaches the writing as 朝ごはん and not 朝ご飯? Is ‘han’ typically written out in hiragana instead of its own kanji in modern Japanese?
Because they don’t teach the kanji for 飯 until a later level. Seems like they’ve got two vocabulary entries because of this:

Also, based on personal experience, you’ll frequently see it out in the wild as 朝ごはん anyway.
