Discussion Guidelines

Spoiler Courtesy

Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.

  1. Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
  2. Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
  3. Any information from later in the book than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags

Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).

Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:

Example

This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.

The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.

Posting Advice

  • When asking for help, please mention the page number, and check before posting that your question hasn’t already been asked. As the threads get longer, it becomes more convenient to use the Search function, which is located in the upper right corner of the forum. It is the magnifying glass which is near your profile picture! The best way to search is usually to type part of the sentence you are confused about, and select “in this topic”. This will show you all posts within the current thread which has that string of text.

  • Be sure to join the conversation! It’s fun, and it’s what keeps these book clubs lively! There’s no such thing as a stupid question! We are all learning here, and if the question has crossed your mind, there’s a very good chance it has crossed somebody else’s also! Asking and answering questions is a great learning opportunity for everyone involved, so never hesitate to do so!

How are you all doing with the first two chapters? The first one was fun, but I’m having a harder time following the second one. Not sure if that is me or the chapter.

I’m not there yet myself, but according to the schedule we’re on to the next two chapters now!

EDIT: Sorry, didn’t intent for this post to be reply >.<

Ch. 44 spoilers

I think the whole 若松x結月 misunderstanding is one of the funniest things in this manga. So many good punch lines!

:joy: sasuga Yuzuki

Nozaki proven right against all odds :joy:

I don’t know what it was for me but these chapters were just so freaking funny to me. Literally laugh out loud in a Lotteria by myself haha.

The Little Devil stuff was great, and I loved how annoyed Seo was and how Sakura just copied Chiyo to make it happen. The next chapter also has great stuff. I love Hori/Kashima but I also love the comedic combination of Kashima and Mikorin!

Hopefully this is me just being better at ready the manga!

Finished 43 and 44!

The Nozaki!!! one had me in stitches. So good, my wife got mad because she was trying to study and I was laughing too much these chapters so I kept distracting her
Also shout out to Mayu, always love chapters centered on him!

Mikorin just shouting 野崎いいい into the void was so funny, as if him imagining it made it come true. I also find it funny how there are supposed to be no seats left but they are almost always empty next to them. I know it’s to save on drawing モブ characters (nozaki vocab coming in clutch) but it’s still funny to me. Also that the reason Nozaki found all of this to be not feasible is because they don’t even take the train to school lol

I love this design (Ch. 45)

Literally dying of laughter every time it was on the page! Chiyo’s imagination with how Mamiko would use it was absolutely hilarious

Also ch. 46 Poor Wakamatsu! He fell for the Kashima trap!

Can’t believe we already have only two weeks left of this volume!! The last few months have been sooo busy :smiling_face_with_tear: but I have been keeping up with the chapters.

From last week, chapter 45, this has nothing to do with the story or Japanese haha, but the artist side of me just really loves the way these hands are drawn

And chapter 46 was hilarious!! I agree, poor Waka lol
I’m gonna start reading this weeks chapters today!

Hi all! Sorry for disappearing. Some Unexpected Life Stuff happened (increasing my general stress level) and I found I just wasn’t able to enjoy reading Nozaki as much as I know it deserves! So I need to take a break, but I am glad to see you all continuing to enjoy.

Sorry to hear, I hope things have improved a little!!

I know it’s been a bit since this volumes reading finished everyone, but I was curious to see if anyone was still interested with continuing 野崎くん/this bookclub. I would be! If others want to keep reading as well
And, I don’t know how to make/moderate books clubs at all, but if needed I’d be willing to help set up the threads. Just lemme know what ya’ll think!

Hope things are getting better @MaraVos !!

I would also like to continue, since I have the entire series in paperback with me haha. I would also be willing to help set up the threads if needed!! Hope others are also down to continue!

Thanks @TheNerdyNova and @SeanBones! Things are improving slowly but steadily. I’ve basically had to build my Japanese study routine back up from scratch though.

I’d be very happy to have the club continue! I think for myself I’m actually going to reread from the beginning, so it may take me a little while to catch back up. So if one of you would like to take charge of the continuation that would be great! And I can edit/update the main thread as needed, just at me if I forget something!

Ooh nice!! Yeah thats commitment haha

Wow, that does sound tough, but good on you! We’ll be here whenever you get caught up :))

Since you offered, would you mind doing the threads @SeanBones, at least for now? For most of November I’ll be in Japan and will only have my phone, but I would still be able to read along.

I’m ready for the next volume whenever everyone else would like to start!

Sure, I would be able to starting from Volume 6! Though I’ve never run a thread before! Over the weekend I’ll look at my copy of Volume 6 and make a thread for it and ask Mara to edit the main post in the main thread. I’ll also throw up two polls just to gauge interest on timing and pacing!

Thank you so much! Yeah I haven’t ever either  but I have faith in you!
