New Audio!

@Asher and Haruna have recorded, edited, and uploaded nearly 1000 new N2 sentences from かねる to たった(の). This means that all of N2 now has audio files.

Asher has also made these audio recordings available for download from Google Drive.

Thanks again to Asher and Haruna for all of their hard work!

My gosh, so insane! Thank you so much, Asher and Haruna!! duckhearts And thank you, @pushindawood for constant updates, you’re just onto me right, adding more exactly when I finish the previous ones :eyes: pikalove

Love you guys (and WK of course).

Keep up the great work!

By time I get to the N1 level grammar, you will have it all completed

Hi! Just wanted to mention that a LipSurf user has made a prototype plugin to use LipSurf with Bunpro. What does this mean?

  • improve your recall by activating a different part of your brain
  • get comfortable speaking Japanese faster
  • use Bunpro hands-free

If you have feedback, we would love to see it on the LipSurf forum post (in step 2 below) so we don’t hijack this thread. See these two posts on how to get started right away:

  1. Install LipSurf:
LipSurf - WaniKani Voice Dictation. Review while you eat, do chores, etc
  2. Install the community Bunpro plugin:
:tada: New Bunpro and Kitsun.io plugins now available! - Official - LipSurf

@mikob Thank you so much for letting me know! I have cross-posted your comment over on the Bunpro Community. Thank you for this wonderful service and thank you @okonomichiyaki for creating this plugin. Cheers!

Damn @pushindawood this site has come a long way! This may be just what I need to help me easily restore some of my lost Japanese knowledge.

How’s the iOS app coming?

@Aleithian Hey! Thank you for the kind words and for becoming a Lifetime Member! We believe that Bunpro can definitely help you get back into studying Japanese and growing with the language. This is still the best version of the iOS app. @Rion has been constantly working on and updating it. We hope that it won’t be too much longer before we can implement fully native and offline reviews. Cheers!

I really like it so far. The extensive audio and examples are great for reinforcing and illustrating the basic lesson. The SRS system seems well constructed though I’ve only done basic N5 stuff so far. I definitely see the value of going slow - savoring each new lesson and reading through the extensive list of additional resources.

I’ll take a look at the iOS beta version. Thanks!

Hello!

I would love to use Bunpro but I tried it and it was extremely slow. I saw on the Bunpro forum that I’m not the only one experiencing this.
Is it going to be fixed someday? My trial is over and it bothers me to pay for something that doesn’t work…

But if it’s fixed in the future I would definitely buy a lifetime plan

It’s not slow for me. Seems to be quite user dependent.

Same. I’ve read about users experiencing slow load times (And I do have the occasional one or two second delay), but all in all the site isn’t really that slow for me. Might be browser or location dependent? :man_shrugging:

It really does bother me sometimes too. The site works but it’s just slow at times. I will click reviews or search something and it will take a long time to go through. I have tried in several locations and on different browsers and still the same problem happens.

Same… I tried on three different computers, with different browsers and it was still slow everywhere.
It’s so sad since Bunpro seems to be very good and helpful otherwise

What bothers me the most is that people are complaining about loading time since 2018 and nothing seems to have changed

They did respond quite a few times though, they were saying they can’t reproduce the issue on their end, and it seems to be quite a random one. They already did some things to improve it. Though I do hope they find the real solution soon.

New Stuff

  • Grammar is public.

    • Previously you needed to sign up and be logged in to see any grammar. Now anyone can see the Lite version of each grammar point without an account. This will allow you to share a link to a grammar point and have the open graph protocol preview show.
    • All grammar now have friendly URLs.
    • There is a “Share” option that copies the URL. You can find it below the Structure section.
  • New Mobile Side Drawer

    • Navigation on mobile was, to put it gently…awful. The new mobile side drawer should make navigation much easier. Please let us know if you have any feedback.
  • Versioning & More Transparent Updates

    • Version info with a link to the latest updates
    • Additionally, the updates will include more transparency on changes and bug fixes. In the past they were simply notes as “Minor Changes” or “Various Bug Fixes”. This doesn’t give you any insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes. Going forward the changes will be listed out in more detail.
    • A public roadmap & release calendar - While not here yet, we do hope to implement both of these in the near future to better organize feedback and give you a sense of the direction of the site.

We’re hiring

Just a small plug: maybe you or someone you know would be amazing for one of the open positions we have! Competitive pay, fully remote, flex time and a bunch of other benefits

As always, we value your feedback, suggestions and criticisms and will continue to do our best to iterate upon and improve Bunpro. :bowing_man:

Thanks for the update news, especially the page speed optimization is much appreciated. Looking forward to encounter all the other goodies as I go along.

:bowing_woman:t2: I’ll get good use out of this in the Book Clubs when referring to grammar points.

That is actually one of the reasons the change was made. It should let you share the grammar points much more easily now!

Great update, thank you for your work! The page does indeed feel faster today.
