While the app sometimes indicates humble language in the vocab section, I wish the distinction was clearer. Maybe a tag for 謙／尊 would be helpful.
I came across the kanji 伺 and the Mnemonic is telling me a leader would inquire. This is misleading when it comes to use of the word.
Being a leader or director in a company means you have to inquire about lots of things. Have you started this yet? Have you finished that yet? Did you get that thing I sent you? Where’s my coffee? Basically if you’re a leader or director, your main job is to inquire about these very important things.
Please consider changing this to a subordinate inquiring about sth to their leader. (I’m aware that the information is given at the vocab level for 伺う but I think it could easily be made clear at the kanji level)
I know this app is about reading but mixing up 謙譲語 and 尊敬語 is a common mistake intermediate and advanced learners keep making and even if Japanese are very forgiving towards foreigners, such mistakes are irksome and problematic in a business context.
Another example is 拝見. Wanikani tells me it’s polite but doesn’t state that it’s humble language and the sample sentences uses „あなた" which doesn’t work as a humble form of address
