I’ve almost caught up on last week’s section. My attention has been on finishing 「しろくまカフェ today’s special 1」that’s free for a week or so on Bookwalker.
I read it fairly quickly so maybe I’ll get this on a reread - i am having trouble parsing the scenes alternating between dude without the shirt talking to レイ and then him somehow finding ミラ and getting her in town without レイ. How did that happen? I don’t get the sense that レイ allowed that so are we supposed to imagine two timelines, one where he has the conversation with her and the next where he sneaks around and takes ミラ in town?
Mira asks about returning to レイ and he says that he’s talking to him right now, then the close up of the triangle is his earring, which is showing the conversation he’s having at the same time.
The version of him that’s talking to レイ has a zipper in his back, so that’s probably some kind of fake doll version of himself that he’s puppeting. I would assume the version of himself that’s taking Mira around town is the real one.
Maybe I’m reading too much into this because I had a stressful day, but your comment came off very rude and insulting. I’m trying to encourage people, if you really aren’t happy then just move along.
Oh literally! I was interpreting that like, what, is he taking a long bathroom break
Thanks! I would not have gotten that. Good detective work on the zipper, too. I saw レイ in his earing (and got more confused, like is she standing behind him now? ) but totally missed his Doppelgänger. I’m not great at parsing manga visuals, but this felt boss level for me
In the first scene with this guy I’m like wow did he escape one of the racier Harta series
And also, HE KILLS BUTTERFLIES for science . Mad scientist in high heels, he who seduces girls with books.
On a more serious note, I hope his little library experiment will finally tell us something more about Mira‘s illness.
I’ve read a lot of comics so I didn’t think about it much until you started posting about some difficulties with parsing manga visuals, but it’s almost another separate comprehension skill I understood what was going on the first time I read it but I didn’t notice until you asked about it that the triangle thing was his earring, and had to stare at the panel like, what am I looking at here.
Sorry I thought asking for chocolate cookies instead of raisins would make it obvious it was a joke and i just prefer chocolate chips. I apologize, I will move along.
It’s okay, sometimes tone comes across differently than intended on the Internet, and sounds like @hotdogsuplex was having a stressful day. I know I’ve had those moments where I misread a comment or maybe said something that didn’t come across nicely
The way Rei looks in this flashback makes them feel even more androgynous in the present.
And the new guy’s already discussing butterfly murder, and with such a huge smile. We’re off to a great start.
EEE this guy is trouble! I like that Mira trusts Rei and is going to stay in her room. But EEE!
D’aw sadness. ooh did he double himself?
Is it bad that I really want to them to successfully go buy the book? I do genuinely like this new guy, trouble though he may be.
Eek never mind I turned the page can we have some personal space please!
Ooh, he knows the butterfly comparison would upset Rei. That implies a high level of manipulation than the original cluelessness he gives off.
BOOOOOOOOOK
Oh no Mira is sad. This bastard has made Mira sad. Do not appreciate sad Mira.
Don’t just leave me on a cliffhanger!!!
Anyway. New guy, great villain A+. I want to clarify I like sad Mira for the plot and pretty art and dislike sad Mira as I dislike that she is sad now.
Wow, as soon as the new guy came, it’s like all the vocabulary increased in difficulty. Or maybe I’m the only one who feels it.
He seems like he wants to use Mira as a test subject. I don’t think I trust him with her. Especially since he went behind Rei’s back and just kidnapped her. The double body thing was interesting though.
In this chapter too, there is furigana in strange places. Like for 蝶. I’m still unsure why.
