先月 Last month
去年 Last year
It feels like you should be able to swap the
Kanji synonym for “Last” but a video search in Mazi found no example.
Is it weird or wrong to say
先年
去月
Thanks.

Please keep in mind that 先月 and 去年 are not just collections of kanji to express something, they are actual words in the language.
What you’re trying to say is like saying in English that “counter-” and “anti-” basically mean the same thing so why would one not be able to say antiexample or counterthesis. In English people might actually be able to understand you, but in Japanese there are so many homophones that people might have a hard time understanding what you want to say. Plus, what you listed are in fact words in the language but they might mean other things than what you imagine or might simply not be used as much:
先年 - Jisho.org (different meaning)
去月 - Jisho.org (uncommon)
Thank you @NicoleIsEnough.

Aha. This comment was very helpful.
Cheers!
