Notes for this week: there’s some quite text-dense pages that you don’t have to completely read if you don’t want to, but as always ask here if you’re interested.
Notes: I will have more to say about the event next week. Suffice to say there’s some metatextual/real world implications to it that lend it some interesting nuances even beyond what is in the manga.
Great reminder in the last few pages for the grammar point ~せいで. I went to refresh on it, and I learned something new! I think I got the feeling through seeing the phrase in movies/anime that you don’t really use ~せいで for positive things, but I didn’t connect that kinda the opposite phrase (for positive results) is ~おかげで. Super interesting.
(also oops, didn’t mean to reply to the comment, just the thread but I don’t know how to undo that)
Couple thoughts! Fujino having to write under the pen name she and Kyoumoto shared is a nice touch - can never completely forget her! (and also just noticed their names share characters with Tatsuki Fujimoto)

So, page 75, I’m wondering what it means that the volumes 11 are repeating endlessly on the shelf. Is the serialisation not going well, so she’s wound up with all the unsold copies? Which is kinda odd if it’s just received an anime adaptation…
I hadn’t noticed all the vol. 11’s, maybe that’s the one with the anime adaptation so she got more copies? Or just to show it never went past vol. 11 because of tragedy.
or maybe its just the newest volume and she gets a bunch of copies delivered…maybe she hands them out or gives them to libraries?? probably some inside mangaka info we’re missing
Yeah I don’t know either— it kinda seems like that’s a shelf in her room? But if it was a book store it would make more sense since those usually have more copies of the most recent version. I like to think she was doing well on even on her own considering the anime announcement!

藤野 says “書いても、何も役に立たないのに” which I feel like I understand all the words/grammar of, but I don’t get what she’s trying to say? Something like “even if I write it, it’s pointless…” I dont know I’m feeling pretty lost
On the Volume 11 debate
I’m pretty sure this last panel we’re seeing is a bookstore, and we’re seeing the latest shipment of volume 11 is flooding the shelf, indicating its popularity. You can see in the first panels with the not-full bookshelf that we’re not on the top shelf, there’s a ceiling. But the final panel, which notably appears after a public advertisement, is on the top shelf and is totally full
So either we’re seeing a store display or 藤野 rearranged their bookshelf
I feel like that is correct in what she is saying. I took it as direct reference to what was being said on the comic, as in even though she told Kyomoto to come out, it wasn’t useful (since she died as an indirect result). It could also be following up on the last page with her questioning why she draws!
You got the gist of it (though it’s 描いても, so drawing, not writing). “What’s the point of drawing”, basically. I guess literally it’s more like “Drawing doesn’t have any use [for anyone]” (follow-up thought from the previous two pages where she is blaming herself for Kyoumoto’s death)
and you’re right re vol 11 - there’s a big signboard right there that says the anime version has been announced, so it has to be a bookstore, she wouldn’t keep that in her home.
Hmm thanks for the comments guys, I guess I just don’t understand the context/what the author was going for here. I have to think it’s to do with saying drawing from here on out is useless but I’m not sure. It’s not past tense so I don’t think it’s regret
FYI thread will be late today - I have work all day (on a saturday!) and a JPN tutoring session at night which i need to do a bit of prep for. But i didn’t completely forget like last week!
