It’s always nice when the things you’re asking yourself while reading get addressed some 30 pages later. ![]()
Seems like my reading of the situation was mostly accurate. Now the only question remaining is whether 葉月 is really the culprit or there’s others involved. And there’s one other ‘regret’ I have: I was really expecting the fact that the 5 partyers in 1601 were wearing Santa costumes to factor into (or, you know, complicate) the investigation somehow. Especially since the 3 extra guests are to leave by midnight, which is apparently when the most Santas will be requested. I’m a bit sad that it seems to have been a red herring.
Alright, that last chapter was exciting, all the pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together!
I was wrong about the target not being the girl that (maybe) killed 大畑’s son. But to me, their deduction “their alibi is random, therefore it’s not a rotation murder scheme” doesn’t hold at all. They could well have arranged the rotation, and then one day the prime suspect could be like “oh I just got those tickets for the opera on that day / oh by the way I will be out of town in two days”, and then the rest of the friends could be “roger that, we’ll take care of it ;)”. But hey, fine. Wondering who is behind all the murders then.
沢崎弓江 as a target makes sense, otherwise there was no point of having her in the book xD
Also saw it coming that 三輪葉月 was 尾方道代. But not sure I caught everything about her. Is 尾方道代’s backstory about her dead daughter true or just a plot to get to the group? Is she the killer?
Oh, (I know you already know by now), but my guess is that it will be very relevant. Totally predicting that 沢崎弓江 is going to be going around the hotel dressed as Santa Claus (or is already doing that right now) and will be hard to find for both the killer and the investigators!
That’s true! But I think the possibility of the alibis being random opened up some further possibilities for the police. They do tend to just run with what seems plausible, but I guess if you’re on a tight schedule you sort of have to? I wouldn’t know. ![]()
Pretty sure the story about the dead daughter was made up at least. ![]()
