Great video thanks for sharing. He had the same first question as me - what about yellow??!! Nice to have some Dragon Quest to go with our Dragon Ball. ![]()
There’s a whole linguistics debate surrounding this, because languages gradually incorporating an increasing number of separate colour terms is a super common thing.
Ahhhhh, seeing that stinger is causing flashbacks from my childhood haha
Same! I guess there are words for everything lol

Classic bad guy exposition makes for some dense reading!

I feel bad for Vegeta having a bit of an existential crisis this chapter lol
So we can enjoy a little bit longer a simple world where levels beyond super saiyan have not yet been discovered. Once they get going with these super forms this manga is just going to get more and more complicated!
Oh, and we are fragmenting into a multiverse!

I think I just glossed over it, but going back to it I get it now. ワンチャン can also be slang for maybe!
I love it when you come across a crazy new kanji - chapter 114 had one in the word 〆切
I think kanji is the right word for this character, even though it looks like it should be hiragana. I saw it referred to as a kokuji (kanji invented in Japan). This wikitionary page had some more details on this character.
I wonder what’s the reason for using it there specifically? In handwritten text I get it, cause it saves you a bunch of strokes. But when you’re presumably using an IME, who cares about the number of strokes?
I kind of got the impression that this is not that unusual a form to use. Perhaps it’s a word that comes up a lot in the life of a manga artist?
As usual the subtleties of stylistic choice in Japanese are completely lost on me.
These were the different ways of writing this word that came up in my dictionary:
I relate to that so hard haha.
I guess engaging with Japanese mainly through manga and novels as I do means I have a bit of a one-sided reference frame as to what’s the ‘normal’ kanji to use for that word ![]()

Just a quick comment to say that I finished this earlier in the week. Once again this was a fun volume, and we made quite a bit of progress on the story. Once again we are left on a bit of a cliffhanger mid-battle! And once again I’ve enjoyed reading the story in full colour with all the little bonus asides thrown in!
The extra content at the end of this volume was quite fun too.
