Someone could always add a pictographic who’s who to the lookup sheet, so there’s a reference on hand.

Chapter thirty-one’s title image is from “Sentakuki to Kimi to Radio” by Macaroni Enpitsu.
Chapter thirty-two’s is from “Kawaii Dake” by Kyuso Nekokami.
The dance that Bocchi’s performing at the bottom of page 54 presumably looks like this.
Page 62, Shonan no Manima on the karaoke screen is probably a combination of Shonan no Kaze and WANIMA.
Not directly related to this week’s reading (save that the appearence of Like-Monster Bocchi in the first strip of the reading reminded me of it) but I was watching someone’s Japan travel vlog on YouTube this week, and when they visited the Kabukicho Godzilla, I happened to notice that Like-Monster Bocchi was on the wall in front. So I went a-googling, and found this.
First chapter wasn’t too hard this week but was having issues with bits of the second (mostly Bocchi ranting but some other bits as well)
p59
Nijika: でもただ動画あげただけだとこれ以上は伸びないかなぁ
どっかが紹介してくれたりしないかなぁ~
I think Nijika is like “If we just upload a regular video (of our concert) we’re not going to grow the views any further… maybe if someone introduces us to their viewers?” [I think どっか is どこか, right? But not sure I have that second bit that correct]
p60
PAさん:補正しがいがあって私は楽しかったですよ?
I don’t really get what she’s saying - I thought it was ‘other than the parts I had to revise I enjoyed it’ but I don’t really get what the しがいがあって is doing
p62
Jesus christ Bocchi
2nd panel is something like ‘The most pain in the ass person in this situation is someone who stubbornly doesn’t want to sing… even though nobody has any expectations of a beginner singer, a gloomy person will quickly become overly self-conscious…’
3rd panel is where i run into (more) difficulty. Let’s see…
ボッチ:お互い場をしらけさせないよう相手を思っての行動なのに思いやる穂どんどん溝を深まってしまう。。。!
(Lit) Both sides are acting to try and be considerate of each so as to not to make the situation awkward, but the more they think about it, the wider the gap grows!
みんなが自分の好きの歌を歌って割り合えばいいんだ!カラオケって本来そういう場所なんだから!
(Lit) Everybody dividing up to sing their favourite songs is fine! That’s what karaoke is all about!
Hmm, I think I got that… but yeesh.
p64
Kita: カラオケの採点でも90点台後半はキープしてるんだけどな
I understand it’s got something to do with the Karaoke point scoring system and Kita not thinking she was off-pitch, but in particular I don’t understand what the 点台後半 bit means.
Fun vocab: サムネ = Thumbnail (of a video)
I actually thought the first chapter thumbnail was from Polkadot Stingray’s Jodeki, but looking at it it’s not the same and anyway the shot barely turns up in the actual MV. Fooled by laundromats
p60
Probably 補正する + 甲斐がある.
Chapter 31
Me reading そうなんだすごいね → easy!
Me reading ソウナンダスゴイネ → what is this x_x ?? a band name? a reference to her costume? hm… painfully decrypting the text syllable by syllable for 5 minutes… AH!
Me and katakana are still not very good friends I guess.
Ooh the end of the chapter was brutal. Poor Bocchi.
p.59
Yes I think so too, source:
But I would read the sentence as “Maybe we should have a presentation of us somewhere?”
Yeah I wasn’t expecting to learn so much social media vocab with this manga but there’s really a lot. Things like 動画, 再生. And this week only アカ, タグ付け, 視聴, コメント欄…
Jam session
Nice to see everyone coming together and realizing Ryo was stressed out about the song, I feel like she’s more subtle if something was bothering her
As usual one from each chapter, 31 and 32 respectively

Chapter thirty-three’s title image is from “Kienai” by Akaikouen.
Chapter thirty-four’s is from “Moto Kareshi Toshite” by… uh, My Hair is Bad.
Page 73, Bocchi’s celeb crush アベピロシ is Abe Hiroshi, naturally enough.
Page 75, Ryo’s 天津飯 references Dragon Ball’s Tien Shinhan - both of their poses mirror the activation pose of his signature 太陽拳 technique. Bocchi’s chant and hand gestures on the panel below are a Taoist charm called the Kuji-in - I imagine it’s also referenced in some anime (like Naruto?) but this is the original origin.
Think my brain is still booting up, ch 33 was kinda difficult… Will do the rest later today I reckon
/edit okay finished, second chapter was a lot easier than the first
It was fun seeing the karaoke in the first chapter, I didn’t get a pic for anything in particular though
Not sure if you’re asking a question but if yes here’s how I see it:
ネタ is material, content. バレ is revealed, for example if you ask someone to come with you and they guess that it’s because they’re scared of going alone, they might say “バレちゃった” (I got revealed!), so just “content-revealed” means spoiler?

Chapter thirty-five’s title image is from “Flash!!!” by King Gnu.
Chapter thirty-six’s is from “A-E-U-I” by The Oral Cigarettes.
Page 87, the mention of the 軽音部 by background character A is presmably a glancing reference to K-On!, considering that it’s a Kirara series like Bocchi. Bocchi’s t-shirt in the same strip is another Alexandros reference, but with the first part of their name replaced with アキレス腱.
Page 90, Kita’s just… telling everyone her given name like that?
Page 95, last panel, Jojoen is a fairly fancy (and expensive) yakiniku chain. They’ve got branches all over, so I dunno exactly where they are here, but for a random example, this is the one in Ikebukuro.
The club where they play goes completely unidentified, aside from the fact that it’s Ikebukuro, so no real-world reference here.
It checks out with バレ being leaks and keeping secrets, etc. and that’s the way I remember it, but my dictionary says ネタ comes from seed backwards and I was curious if there was a reason the kana was reversed
If I got this right I found a Korean site that said it’s to kinda emphasize the figurative meaning of seed/material being about making things, and is similar to words like しょば being a slang version of 場所. I’ve never heard of this before but here’s where I found it: neta - NamuWiki
Oh I see, I hadn’t caught what you meant before, “ネタ comes from seed backwards”, interesting. Tried to look it up in Japanese but only found websites discussing sushi terminology x)
Nijika being resourceful
I liked her idea, also it was nice getting to see everybody play together somewhere new this chapter
Characters at school
I always thought マネ meant imitation because I thought it was short for マネキン , but after realizing there’s kanji for it and seeing it, I think that may be just a coincidence. Then I looked into it and found a site that talked about how the growth of the word affected 学ぶ but it was a little hard for me to understand

Chapter thirty-seven’s title image doesn’t appear to be a reference to anything specific. Chapter thirty-eight’s is from “Ryoukiteki na Kiss o Watashi ni Shite” by Gesu no Kiwami Otome.
No notes for chapter thirty-seven.
Chapter thirty-eight takes place at Yomiuri Land (the name of the theme park in the real world is spelt without kanji, the newspaper it takes its name from is written 讀賣). It claims to be Tokyo’s largest theme park (albeit with Tokyo Disneyland/sea lurking juuust over the border in Chiba), though that feels like a bit of a legal fiction, because even though it appears to have an address in Tokyo, Google Maps shows it solidly on the Kanagawa side of the prefectural border. As per Kita’s comment on page 111, Yomiuriland-mae Station on the Odakyu Line can be reached from Shimokitazawa in just 17 minutes by rapid train, changing to the local at Noborito Station, though the “mae” feels a little bit charitable here, because it’s still a good quarter hour by bus from the park.
Page 114, the ghost is a reference to the story of Okiku.
