お礼 meaning and using

Hi I’m french so forgive my grammar mistakes if there is any
I just learnt that お礼 (orei) means “thank you”, but I never heard it or used it. Up until now I knew about 有り難う (arigatou). Could you explain me what’s the difference between these two, and how it is used in sentences ?

There should be some example sentences on WK, but anyway, here’s a random one from a Japanese website on business manners:

メールでのお礼は、対面よりも難しい

It’s harder to give thanks by email than in person.

ありがとう means literally “thank you”. お礼 is formal, and means “gratitude/thanks” (remerciements in French, since I’m also French ;))

It’s like “a thank you”, as in the noun. Like “this is just a small thank you” ほんのお礼のしるしです
