ある not always a verb?

ずっと前からあるじゃない

I’m wondering about this because じゃない is attached to it. I thought it could only be attached to nouns.

ある is indeed a verb there. But it’s just that this じゃない is called a tag question. It can get stuck to a statement, either to actually question it or just rhetorically. It’s like saying “isn’t it” at the end of a statement in English.
