This is a pretty common problem with WK, and I have been struggling with this as well. I recently found this (haven’t used it yet, so I can’t speak to how good or bad it is), check it out!
There are also a bunch of posts on the forums if you search “kana only.” For example, Hiragana and Katakana only Vocab from the Core 6K deck in Memrise!
