Just seconding this because if you change from established pronunciations, then often people won’t understand what you’re saying.
It may be less of a problem in Tokyo, but out in the countryside, it’s definitely an issue

It’s breaking my brain the way he just shifts accent in mid-sentence as the map marker moves around.
I like how no one mentioned that 〜州 may refer to other “states” than the united states .
OP straight-up mentioned both 本州 and ケベック州 (Canada), and then after that, we quickly got mentions of ニューサウスウェールズ州 (Australia), バーデン=ヴュルテンベルク州 (Germany), and ノルトライン=ヴェストファーレン州 (also Germany). In fact, as many non US states have been mentioned in this thread as US states.
We just wound up with a focus on New York because we went on a tangent like we usually do.
