I never Listen to music while Studying.
I’ve studied music, so whenever I’d listen to something while studying, I’ll get automatically distracted.

I usually do most of my WK-ing at work, so…the melodious sounds of the Japanese office.

I don’t really listen to music while doing wanikani, but I have been rocking Taylor Swift’s Folklore album when going through my Genki studies. It is very calming. I ought to replace it with some Japanese music though. I need to check out some of Yui’s stuff and see if there are some calm tunes. Again is way too upbeat for studying.

I’m trying my best to get the feel of the pitch accent by listening to and repeating the words, so I don’t listen to music!

Koichi has a podcast and he talks about maximazing efficiency. I’m surprised he didn’t discuss this. I used to listen to music. Like upbeat KPop to get me in the mood to study or classical to keep me focused. (I love Phillip Glass). When you live in a very distracting environment like with a very annoying husband who announces every chess win against every high ranking opponent it helps to plug your ears and straight ignore him. But I started studying late at night with total silence and it really is much better…especially when you are the only person awake in the entire house. It means I have to take naps during the day, but its worth it. Sleep and silence work wonders for my ability to memorize just about anything.

Type into Youtube ‘Lofi Japan’. You get to see POV videos that coach conductors have made with the Lofi accompanying it.

Sometimes I want to be in Japan so much that I’ll put that on on full screen and glance at it whilst doing other stuff lol.

But, yeah, Lofi is really nice for studying I fin.

This song is especially fitting for speed reviews…

Uhm, Anything Grunge Rock Or anything from the 80s/90s I love the music from that point of time.

Lofi/Jazz hop, that sort of thing. There’s this channel where someone has put a camera on his dashboard whilst driving his bus. If I’m really missing Japan I’ll stick this on and sometimes watch his journey. Yes, I have withdrawal symptoms since I’ve been to Japan :P. Even if it was almost 6 years ago… !

Mostly just instrumentals or beats.
at the moment i listen to MF DOOM’s special herbs album

I have a full subliminal playlist which starts with one called “Become fluent in Japanese”

I don’t give a damn if they actually work (and I don’t care about your opinion on whether they do or not), the woo woo music just helps me focus. I can’t listen to anything with audible lyrics while I study because my brain just wants to latch on to them, learn them, repeat them. Same with strong melodies to follow. So I use these.
