My only comment for this week’s section is that I never thought I’d see a Monty Python reference in a Japanese sci fi novel.

The author does seem to do a reasonable job of having his American characters have the kind of pop culture background in movies and TV that they ought to, though there’s been at least one python quote that it took me two reads to recognize in its Japanese translation…
