Ichi.moe is good for breaking a sentence into its parts.

Yeah I guess that’s the issue of relying so much on Yomita, it will lot of times not catch して with the noun/verb, and since I trust it a lot, it will confuse me. ichimoe also has its shortcomings, especially with んだ (iirc).

んだけど is a combination of a clause ending in の to turn it into a noun, then だ (because that is what attaches to a noun), and then けど.

Yes I found this out by myself during the post I made! But I think that’s where Japanese hits the hardest to me, as it is quite different to my native language, where words are lot less similar, here the だ+けど could be so many things (to me), it feels tricky. Or maybe that’s just part of learning it.

I got to admit i did not understand everything you said about のだ , because usually they just explain it by saying it’s to “explain” something, so I am not used to this kind of information. But what I definitely understood is that it’s much more flexible. But I will read your article, very useful!

well the Cardcaptor Sakura ABBC was my first attempt at native reading and I definitely didn’t understand 100% of it. I think my comprehension rate has gotten better the more I’ve read but I wouldn’t stress out about not catching every grammar point.

I wouldn’t stress out about not catching every grammar point.

I would say I am pretty chill, I actually am hyped when I find a useful / commonly used grammar point, until I find something that makes me think a bit “can this even be taught / learned ?”

Here, Suna is noting that Takeo is also being formal, since Takeo used です.

The font makes it a little difficult, but this is ぞ rather than を.

The topic and comment in the sentence as reversed, as Takeo makes a comment (“it’s tasty”), then he’s stating the topic (まかろん). If it were in proper order, he might say:

「まかろんはうまいぞ」

Side-note: Notice that Yamato says マカロン, as this is a loan word. But Takeo says まかろん because he has no idea it’s a word from another language. He’s not thinking this, but the mangaka uses hiragana to convey his lack of knowledge about macarons.

“She likes Suna to that extent?” or “She likes Suna that much?”

I’d semi-literally translate this as, “You’re misjudging your sense of distance.”

Slght correction: 失恋してないたら => 失恋して泣ないたら.

As such, remove “hasn’t” from your translation, and it’s good!

If anyone didn’t notice, when Takeo says タメ, that’s short for タメ口ぐち.

I was mistaken. I was unaware of タメ meaning "same age" and mistook this line of dialogue.

That’s what happens when I have already read the material previously, and I’m just skimming through it while replying.
