I kept reading after last week went by faster than expected, just to get some buffer for my other books  .

Thoughts

I’m not sure where orczy’s story is going. She’s portrait as really negative and disliking herself to a point that it feels a little hard to read sometimes. And then on top of that agatha is their personal coffee maker and maid. Another older book with so far abysmal female roles it seems :frowning:
I hope they bring something more to the table as the story progresses…

Just to make sure: after ellery put the plates in the kitchen drawer nobody took a look in there, right (double negatives sometimes, I swear)? Because we know ellery is quite good with 手品, so I’m kinda skeptical the plates are actually in the drawer.

This week was really fast to read for me. Probably because of the dialogue and the smaller amount of general introduction.

Thoughts

I must say the interactions with the females are even worse than in the previous book for me, maybe because they are basically friends and still actively ask the females to do the kitchenwork, even standing around and watching without helping

For the story, I really like the switches between sceneries. I always keep wondering what happens in the “other world” at the same time, and how the two will get together. (In this case, probably our “land” people will go to the island at some point - so far, so forseeable…)
I liked how everybody suspected and accused everybody else - they must be really tense being in that place that they get so serious so quickly.

My guess is that the sickness will play an important role in the case. My suspicion is that he will be the first to die, and that (because the prologue seems to hint at the murder using poison) it will not be clear initially whether his sickness got bad or whether there is something else to it. But let’s see!

Maybe Agatha’s going to kill everyone for making her do all the chores

I’m surprised how quickly everyone turned on each other. Lots of tension in this club.
