Readathon was a good excuse to sit down with this today. I found the first half of this section tricky, lots of terms and inner monologue that I wasn’t familiar with. The second half was fun and pacy and easier to read though - a mystery is afoot… :magnifying_glass_tilted_right:

Could have done without the nose picking :sweat_smile: but I’m enjoying the characterisation of Kazu. Nice 180 from total disinterest in the map to being extremely interested and slightly offended by said map.

I am not too fond of our MC yet, right now I’m more on the dislike side :frowning: hoping he will grow on me!

Oof, I definitely agree with the first part being a lot harder to read than the end section.
Does anyone know what たてわり学級 means? I was struggling to find a definition for that.

Literally it means ‘vertically splitted classes’ i.e. they are not putting chilren of the same age together, but groups are formed with students from first to sixth grade living in the same area of the town. In my understanding this is only done here for recreational activities.

a few thoughts from reading ...

I think the author is purposefully impressing upon us that Kazu is not particularly mature. Hopefully that means he experiences growth in the future. :slight_smile:

That looking at old maps of your town and neighborhood activity sounds GREAT to me!
