WaniKanify ReZero

Hello

So, I released an extension to replace WaniKanify 2.0.
Looking at the forum I see that there’s now also Vocabify but since now it’s done and we also do not cover exactly the same features, well

For those that don’t know the previous extensions:

I’ve published WaniKanify ReZero for:

It is built on Plasmo so, if there’s a need, other browsers can be considered.

I already have some improvments in the pipe but will wait a bit in case there’s any feedback before publishing any update.

If you are interested by the code on GitHub, it’s under GPL-3.0 license so as long as you mention the initial work it is quite permissive.

Cheers

I installed in on Firefox and it works as expected! Thank you for making this extension!
One comment, while in autorun mode, it will translate even what I am writing in a textbox (such as while I was writing this comment.) Not sure if it’s intentional or not, but letting you know in case.

Thank you!

It isn’t intentional and I didn’t experience that when testing on Chrome. I’ll take a look.

Thanks a lot for bringing it up

Fix done. It will be in the next update.

Thanks again

## WaniKanify ReZero v1.1.2 Release Notes

Skipping v1.1.1 and combining changes here as they are very close in time.

- ✅ Text replacement is now safer and won’t accidentally swap parts of words.

- ✅ Options settings now update without slowing down the UI thanks to removal of unnecessary re-renders.

## Technical Notes

- All changes are backward compatible - no action required

---

**Upgrade:** The extension will update automatically, or you can manually update from your browser’s extension store.

v1.1.2 is currently in review but should soon reach your browser

(thanks for prompt in the other thread :D)

What are the main differences? Looking at both extensions they look quite similar :D)

Also, after trying it: could you also radicals and kanji (not only vocabulary) with colouring same as WK? Not everything seems to be covered by vocabulary it seems…

I honestly don’t remember, that was some time ago  So I would say, go with whichever matches best your need.

My goal at the time was mostly to get the now deprecated WaniKanify 2.0 back to life which I don’t think supported radicals or kanjis either.
I won’t be adding more work into it in the immediate future myself outside of fixing potential bugs but contributions are welcome

I’m just testing both now

The other one uses radicals/kanji/vocab which is nice, but it only has “always on/off” option without ad-hoc. Your is more useful for me in the sense that I can click on the button to get the replacements (and also nicer looking tooltips with translation :D)

Sadly my JS-foo is “lacking” (to put it mildly) :frowning:

Btw, apologize if you already saw it but there’s the Options page where you can tweak things such as audio play.

Yes, I saw it and tweaked a bit
