Just added this to my Chrome at work. I’ve already started seeing some of my vocabulary. It’s exciting. Thank you!
I don’t know if it is normal or not, but now that I hit level 10 and I have 700 ish vocab words popping here and there, I noticed that the addon is taking way longer to change the text. Every website has a long lag spike of 1-2 seconds before being able to use now. It is getting kinda irritating.
Forgot I had this installed and was very confused as to why there was seemingly random kanji popping up everywhere.
Works great, would it be possible for a future update to have an option for hovering over a character to show its hiragana reading as well as the meaning?
Thanks for the extension!

Works 大した, would it be possible for a future update to have an option for hovering over a character to show its hiragana reading as well as the meaning?
Thanks for the extension!
panik said... Is it possible to "add" vocab on this? Or is it possible to make it understand different conjugations for verbs?I would love a way to edit the vocabulary list manually - to be able to add and subtract kanji outside of those learned on wanikani.
We have as examples some numbers, months, number of things etc but not every single 一 of them. That's convinient for WaniKani reviews but it would be 大した if it could be added as an "already existing" vocab after a level or so. We know the months, just not on WaniKani, so why not convert them with this?
Or maybe some verbs! It will understand "to eat" but not "he's eating" and of course many more examples like that...
I asked about this again in the past. Do you think you could make something like that happend?
I did this too… Installed and wondered why the kanji(s) (<— Kidding) was there, until I realized I installed this when I was drinking the other night
I love it!
I love the plugin, especially since it taxes my brain just enough in certain situations when I encounter a word.
That said, there are cases I’d like to avoid it running. A feature suggestion would be to add a blacklist of domains where the conversion should not happen (e.g. work email, wanikani itself, etc)
I just installed the plug-in (extension) in Google Chrome. I added my Public API Key and saved.
It’s not working (I have a PC running Windows Vista). Am I doing something wrong?
When I click on the Crabigator icon nothing happens. I get no indication: is it on or off.
When I go to websites that have vocab that I have learned at Wanikani, I don’t get anything converted to kanji.
Is anyone having the same problem?

It's cool!!! English text with kanji :-)
I love this extension, I almost always have it on auto. However google after a search loads very slowly (I think it wanikanifys every hit). It would be great if we could set up exceptions to the auto. Thanks!
Lol awesome app. xD
Wanikanify is still not working. It used to work and suddenly it stopped working.
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled.
Put in my key.
Running Windows 7.
Running Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m
Mine is the same! It used to work but now it isn’t working anymore…
Also Windows 7 and Chrome version Versie 27.0.1453.94 m
ETA: I also deleted and re-installed it but it’s still not working.
(if I go to edit, the box of my API key is also empty and I did add it!)
Awesome, I’m loving it!

I spent a few hours this morning playing with the API and implemented a small Google Chrome Extension. Check it out here!
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/wanikanify/dbnpfdbkecfgaffopefhalliecehhkhj
The basic idea is to take the vocabulary you've studied and inject the kanji into your everyday reading, blogs, news, reddit (get off reddit and study your Japanese!). So, click the Crabigator and for all the vocabulary you've studied, the english words are replaced with the kanji you should know. It's not entirely accurate, the substitution is a raw match, so sometimes a noun is replaced where a verb is, but the goal of this isn't to be 100% accurate. It forces you to recall meanings and pronunciations as you scour the web. The best part is that as you learn more and more Japanese, your webpages will start to fill up with kanji!
To use it, you'll need to add your API key which can be found on this page: http://www.wanikani.com/account Update the options of the extension and you're ready to go!
Let me know if you like it, hate it, or have ideas to make it better!
It isn’t working for me… I added it to chrome, put in my API key, went to options and made it so that it’s on automatically. I’ve googled words that I’ve learned the kanji for, and nothing’s showing up. Am I missing something?
It only picks up my Kanjis on Guru level even though I have the Apprentice level activated in the options… but that’s not a big problem…
Thanks for the awesome extension!

I've googled words that I've learned the kanji for, and nothing's showing up. :/ Am I missing something? It doesn't do Kanji at all. It ONLY wanikanifys based on vocab (purple). When you guru a kanji, that unlocks the vocab for the kanji in the lessons. As soon as you do the lesson for that vocab it is added to your wanikanify, that why you think it is unlocking at guru.
Red, you only just unlocked your first vocab, so you should see those 33 now. And Suzu, as soon as you guru your kanji you will get the vocab lessons. Seeing as you already have 14 of them as apprentice it should only take a couple days if you remember them.
頑張って! 「がんばって」
