Wanikanify - A Google Chrome Extension

try installing it again, and verify you put your api key in there.  when you go to a website click the cabrigator icon and see if it changes the vocab or not.

Wasn’t it disabled by the team temporarily?

 Damn that's right ... facepalm :(

Is there an update planned to address the multi word vocab? It works fine with single words like few/a few/big/sun, but stuff like “to be cut” or " older brother" its not getting changed to jap

Thanks for the app

It’s a great extension but is there any way, I can choose some websites where I don’t want it displayed?

I like the extension, but some places like Lang-8, it works adversely. Also it is a bit irritating going to extensions tab again and again to enable/disable it.

Why don’t you turn off auto mode? Clicking on the icon (right of the address bar) will toggle it on and off. I know it will work only on a click but you know it isn’t a translation app anyway. Then you don’t need to go to extensions tab every time you want to enable and disable it.

Hi all–

LOVE this extension. It really really helps me remember what I’m learning.  I have two suggestions:

1) There are a few websites that add a line break after changing text to Japanese.  Here’s one for me: http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-easy-ways-to-spot-b.s.-news-story-internet/.  The kanji ends up on its own separate line for some reason.
2) If you could have easier enable/disable as opposed to going to options (make it one click from the task bar), that’d be awesome. I like to keep it on auto by default but some pages I need to turn it off (agree with the other recommendation about making an “exclusion” site list, that’d be a great feature as well).

Thank you so much!  This is one of the single coolest Chrome extensions EVER.

But that means I have to click it on, every page right?

I mean, I won't even remember and it is always better to see the Kanji before knowing the word. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose in a way.

Yes, you would need to click it on every page.

Of course adding a list of domains as exceptions is the best solution. Or to make it a toggle switch, which will turn it on for the current tab (if it is possible). This would be a nice feature aswell.

But you know, if you are able to read a whole bunch of words in a short glance on a screen full of text, then I'd say you are quite a fast reader. :D

This ace - many thanks!
Actually managed to convince me to download Chrome just for this…

Any new word on a Firefox port? Chrome is my “work” browser so I can’t very well use something like this there :frowning:

Is it possible to “add” vocab on this? Or is it possible to make it understand different conjugations for verbs?
We have as examples some numbers, months, number of things etc but not every single one of them. That’s convinient for WaniKani reviews but it would be great if it could be added as an “already existing” vocab after a level or so. We know the months, just not on WaniKani, so why not convert them with this?
Or maybe some verbs!  It will understand “to eat” but not “he’s eating” and of course many more examples like that…
I asked about this again in the past. Do you think you could make something like that happend?

This no longer being worked on?

First of all, this extension is great.

A feature-request: a site “filter list”.  Meaning a way to add sites to a list that the extension will ignore.

For example, it makes wanikani more challenging.

I know that I can hit the icon (and that is what I do that the moment) to turn it off, but it would be nice not to have to do that every page or so when doing lessons or reviews.

I also know that I could turn off auto-mode, but then that defeats that purpose - which is to try to force yourself to get more exposure and practice of Japanese.

Again, great tool. But a “filter list” would make it even better.

I can’t seem to install this on my work computer, but it works fine at home.  Our firewall must be blocking it somewhere.  Is there any way I can download the extension from another location, so that I can install it manually?

Thanks

Any way to add the burned section to this app.  I would love to be able to review the stuff wanikanu

If there ever was a reason for reading random things online !

great idea, can’t wait to level up some more and really put this extension to the test. Keep up the good work !

For some reason it won’t download for me, I click “add to chrome” but a message comes up saying it can’t be done at the moment and to refresh the page. It’s a shame 'cos this looks like an awesome app :frowning:

Wanikanify doesn’t work for me anymore in Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m.
I don’t know what version I used to have, but now I have a new version and the extension isn’t working for me.
