As the title says, I am using both apps to learn Japanese. When I learn a new kanji I added to my kanji schedule on Renshuu. On Renshuu, when you learn new kanji it gets integrated in the vocabulary schedule which it is nice. However, I feel Wanikani is taking most of my time. I rarely practice grammar on Renshuu. Do you have some suggestions? What’s your study schedule? I want to be as efficient and not only focus on one area
There’s only one right answer for the best study schedule for you, and that is… whatever helps you accomplish what you want to. WaniKani is great for learning kanji and some vocabulary to help support learning Kanji. Grammar is good for learning grammatical structures, listening is good for listening, reading is good for reading, etc. I think you’re onto a good idea in not wanting to over-focus on one area, but how much to prioritize any one activity will be depending on where you are and where you want to go. ![]()
The only real solid advice is don’t be afraid to change your plans if you feel they’re not working properly toward your goal - if you feel like you’re having too much time in WK then that may be a signal to cut down on lessons and level up more slowly so you can focus on other things. I know that’s something I did but my goals are my goals and yours are yours, so while I know my choice was right for me at the time I’ve made it and since, I can’t claim it’s universally correct. But if you have things you want to work on and need suggestions on how to approach those, the forums are a great place for advice!
In any case, just asking the question and trying to improve your plan is a good sign that you’re going about this in a good way, and hopefully a little time spent crystalizing your goals and figuring out how you can achieve them will help light the short term path.
