It's easier to use, since it takes only one touch (and slide) to enter one kana character, as opposed to 2 or 3 touches for romaji input. Not only would typo's happen less often (like forgetting to double 'n'), but it would also further koichi's goal of avoiding romaji altogether.
That is a nice idea Nelemnaru, but I actually can't control the language setting for the keyboard. And since reviews must be done through a web view, I also can't use a custom-made one.
However, I definitely recommend going into settings and enabling the Japanese keyboard yourself, then just press the globe in the lower left to toggle between kana and romanji for entering readings. As a bonus this makes for good practice texting in Japanese!

Hmm for some reason it's displaying double the number of lessons on the app (as opposed to on a browser with the real numbers script)
Thanks for catching this one phaser! It's fixed for the next update now.
Time, feel free to email me at kylecoburn at gmail if you’d like to discuss more. I’m happy to share art assets or talk development plans with you guys.

Will do this week, not sure exactly when, but will do.
So glad to see an iOS app finally being made! Looks great!

App Icon - Right now the app icon is pretty simple (it’s based off of the pink crab circle in the upper left). I’m sure many of you have much better graphic design chops than myself!
Ah my bad Maestrohuber, I forgot to include the general app icon requirements (namely, 1024x1024 square without transparency). I’ve updated the OP with the details, as well as a link to the current icon for reference.
Also, I’ve finally found a suitable workaround to fix the scrolling jitter caused when typing during reviews sometimes, so that’ll be in the 1.1 update, and later tonight for testers.
Really nice. Love that the keyboard pops up automatically. I don’t know if you accept feature requests, but now that the keyboard automatically pops up, if you can make the enter button move to the next item I could finally use my external keyboard to blaze through reviews without having to tap the screen after every item. That would save a lot of time. Either way though, this is great, thanks.
Thanks for creating this, I’ll be using it exclusively the next few days to see what it’s like. One weird thing: I had a hard time getting going, until I realized that I had to touch the “Review time” button in its lower right corner for it to recognize the touch. This is on an iPad 3, iOS 6.

Crashes at splash screen on my ipad 1.
Same on my iPad 2
Sorry for the inconvenience guys, the app currently only supports iOS 6.0 and later (updated the OP to reflect that). Unfortunately you won't be able to update that far on iPad 1. I plan to add 5.0 compatibility in the 1.2 update, while version 1.1 correctly specifies the app as requiring 6.0+ in the interim.

I'll look into it, but I'm not seeing that issue so hopefully it's already fixed for 1.1, though I can only test that in the simulator as I don't own a retina iPad.

Is there a way to not show the icon badge if I have new lessons?
I'll look into an option to turn off badging the icon persistently (i.e. the badge is removed once you open the app, and hence it wouldn't display for lessons). If you didn't want to see badges at all, you can turn them off on a per-app basis in Settings.app > Notifications.

Hm, I haven't tried with a hardware keyboard yet, but shouldn't the enter button work the way it already does on desktop? I'll test this out for 1.2 and see what I can do.
I just downloaded the app; this is really cool. This has probably been suggested before but it’d be awesome to see this integrated into the app in the future.
Okay, I need help re the API key! It says if I press that button I have to get a new one and I don’t know what the heck it is in the first place! Or how to do that or if I ever had one.
I know this is still in its very basic form, but after using it on my iPad for a bit, I didnt see too much of a difference from using it through the browser. The keyboard still drops down after each review item. It also kept on asking me to log into WK even after I put in my api key in the beginning.
Still really appreciate the work thats been put into this. I am looking forward to the awesomeness I know it will become
