so i just bought a vn that’s all in japanese, but i’m still a scrub who needs to use yomitan, looking up guides, textractor is what i need to use, i tried it out, i attach to the game, but the text just doesn’t come out. does anyone have any experience with reading vn’s like this? or any other method really, please let me know

Are you selecting the piece of memory or whatever that has the text of the game in the drop down menu?
I feel like it would be a good idea to provide some more information. What game, what version of textractor, and just some basic screenshots so we can help you

the game is magical girl witch trial, when i click the drop down menu, there is only one other option, in which the only text that appears is “a”

Yes, I looked at several different lines of the game, same thing

Since that one’s still an OCR, I recommend grabbing Agent texthooker instead. I checked the script list and mahosaba is supported. It’s another texthooker but only works with specific games and VNs that have their scripts set up for it. The plus side is it should be perfect and very plug and play. Select the game from the script list, drag the little target icon onto the process, and go. You can only use what’s in the list but I’ve never had a game not be automatically perfect with Agent.

Curious if you’re even attached to the game. Mine looks like this and has the exe name in the top left
when you insert hook it will have all this stuff after the basic “textractor” stuff in the console but yours doesnt

i did get the exe to show up, but all that text was not there i believe, well maybe that game was just not supported, i guess it’s fine, since there are alternatives.
nice! hope i can stick with it, i am no longer the unemployed person i was a few years ago, time management is brutal. also i got agent texthooker to work, thank you for that.

Glad to hear it’s working! I didn’t personally check textractor but I think Unity games never or at least usually don’t play well with it.
