Here it is, yet another dark theme for WaniKani. I made this because, although I like the general color scheme (and color-coding) of WK, it is so electrifying to look at and I get terrible migraine. I made this style so I could do my reviews without burning my retinas on ionic fuchsia, but posted it on Userstyles here in case anyone else wanted to try it:

You can tweak the colors using the variables in the :root section at the top of the CSS, if they are still too bright (or you just hate pink). Please let me know if you try it, it’s my first userstyle and I’d love to know if it needs any tweaks. I made it for Firefox, and only for the reviews section, but I might work on the rest of WK later.

I know there are a lot of other, similar userstyles for WK so I hope this is okay.

If your issue is color and only color you may try the color customization feature of Breeze Dark.

  • Install Breeze Dark in Stylus
  • On the Wanikani page click on the Stylus extention to select a theme
  • Click on the gear icon next to Breeze Dark

This will start the color customization dialog. You can choose the Wanikani items colors and have them effective throughout all Wanikani. This will save you from styling the entire WK site just to get new colors for items.

Thanks, I was really going for a more low-contrast theme overall (text and backgrounds included) and it seems like you can only customize item color in the Stylus interface, but I might try tweaking this a bit since I like the way it looks.
