Yes hehe there is no security risk except that it accesses my backend at Heroku to query the information ![]()
This doesnât work for me ? Not sure if itâs only me. I tried to reinstall it a few times, or downgrade it, but nothing.
Oh I think this might no longer work due to the changes in WK. Iâm sorry, I somewhat fell out of the loop of fixing my scripts⌠I can (hopefully) look into this tonight ot tomorrow. Thanks for the ping!
Oh I didnât realise! That would be awesome, itâs such a useful script. Youâre a star
also, really no rush ![]()

Hello,
Similar to @shimizukeira, I havenât been able to make this script work, the website âJLPT Resources - Free Japanese Vocabulary lists and MP3 sound filesâ seems to be up and running, and I can find in the site the vocabulary from Wanikani, but all that I see in Wanikani is ââŚâ where I expect the JLPT level to be displayed.
In the Chrome debug console, I can see an exception:
userscript.html?name=Wanikani%2520JLPT%2520Indicator.user.js&id=2e2c6164-481c-4d2f-8a97-500028155286:159 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'text')

Thank you!
Oh thanks for the ping! Of course I forgot ![]()
Yes, thatâs correct. I used a free Heroku VM but they are now charging money for everything, so that site went down. I will integrate the data into the script so that it no longer needs a call to a backend.
Working on it now ![]()
Thanks everybody for your patience ![]()
@shimizukeira @estebanrc @jhendrix13
I have updated the script to version 0.4.0 on Greasyfork. The JLPT information is now contained in the script itself, therefore the backend is no longer necessary.
If you notice something odd, please give me a shout! ![]()
Thank you very much @NicoleIsEnough!
The new 0.4.0 version works great
!
@NicoleIsEnough unfortunately Iâm having troubles with the script since yesterdayâŚmaybe it is due to the WaniKani updates? However, thanks for the script, it was a great help! ![]()
Thanks for the ping! I must admit I hadnât looked into whether the script needs to be updated - was super busy the last two months and itâs only wearing off slowly, but will check it out soon. Thanks for your patience ![]()
Sure, take your time! Thanks for looking into it ![]()
how can I use it? I have it installed and it doesnât show any jlpt indicator anywhere!
There was a somewhat recent overhaul to the code of Wanikani a couple months ago that destroyed a bunch of userscripts, this might have been affected by that
A couple comments above they mention that theyâve been busy, but youâll probably automatically get a notification of an update if they get to releasing it
Hopefully things are alright in life @NicoleIsEnough ! I didnât know about this script until today, but it looks neat. Thanks for working on it ![]()
Is this script working again? I tried to install it but am a total beginner when it comes to this stuff so Iâm not sure if it doesnt work because I have no idea what I am doing or because of the issues others mentioned in earlier comments. Itâs amazing that you are taking the time to make this kind of stuff for other people to use as well, thanks a lot!
Unfortunately, this script broke due to some ui changes, and I didnât find the time to fix it. As Iâm no longer using WaniKani, Iâm not sure whether Iâll be able to soon. Sorry for that ![]()
Hello !
Would you mind making it a github repo ? Iâd like to take a look and maybe ( if I manage ) propose a bug fix ![]()
ăăăă¨ăăăăăžă !!!
Hello! It has been a github repo all along - just updated it to the latest version (that doesnât use a backend server) but Iâm not sure at what state Greasyfork currently is tbh⌠But please feel free to send a PR and we can figure out the rest going forward: GitHub - NicoleRauch/WaniKaniJLPT: Displays the JLPT level that any WaniKani Vocab word belongs to (according to Jonathan Wallerâs JLPT Resources page).
Thanks ![]()
Did you manage to find a solution?![]()
Sorry, I didnât have time to look at it
.
Iâll try in the coming month, but I canât promise anything
