if you can finish 30 pages of a lt novel in a day you can pass the N2…
this is a fact… and now that it’s on the internet it’s 1000000% true

I can’t say for sure whether or not it may still be true, but in some recent years the US registration web site actually started accepting registrations a bit earlier than the advertised starting time - perhaps as much as 10 or 15 minutes early - and so it may be worth trying to access the registration site just a bit early if there’s a chance that your test location of choice may be one that fills up quickly (based on past experience, or in anticipation of a limited number of slots being available for your test level at that location).
naughty pickle …
you’re gonna bring up some PTSD from the last test sign up attempts…
What if I can read 30 pages of a light novel, but I only understand 60% of it.
then you should be in the N1 thread of course
IS THIS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME LAST TIME?
Crap, I wasn’t prepared for that.
Guess I’ll just have to make sure I only understand 30% next time I read 30 pages in a day!
instead of going backwards - join the bookclubs…readathons…maybe win a bookworm durtle and whatnot… get to like 100% next readathon is autumn equinox
I did do a book club once but I have another book club outside of WK and it was too much to do both. I’ll have to consider the readathon.
PS: I still think I’m N2 I need to read harder LNs.
there’s also reading bingo
lots of options if/when you want to seriously dive into reading
@taiyousea is our fearless leader on the readathons btw
I honestly think that reading nonfiction/essays are the way to go. Maybe even the news?
Anyway, I don’t feel like reading LNs helps that much for the N2 readings, except maybe in speed and stamina. I was done with my reading section with about 5 minutes to go, but I also didn’t understand hardly any of it.
I’m not that worried about it. I won’t be taking it this year after all and will be taking it next year instead. I can read news if needed but I think novels (I tend to read more novels than LNs tbh), and some high difficulty politically-themed video games will probably be enough.
I passed N1 with like a 58/60 on reading and 60/60 language knowledge and 45 minutes to spare with my sole practice coming from LNs and a little bit of VNs. No textbooks or fancy texts.
That doesn’t mean its the most efficient way, sure, but it seems way off to not think they help with N2 readings that much. If you’re comprehending what you’re reading in midrange difficulty LNs, N2 should be an absolute breeze I feel.
Do you have a natively link of books you’ve read? I want to read whatever you’ve been reading
If you click my profile I have a bookmeter on there.
I passed n1 over 3 years ago now so if you want to specifically get the books I read before then you’ll have to go back a bit. The most important thing is reading something interesting to you, but I remember thinking one series that had a lot of fancy grammar in it was 彼女に浮気されていた俺が小悪魔な後輩に懐かれています
I claimed that anyone who just studied the books in that series could pass N1 reading and language knowledge and I stand by it.
I’ll add it to my bookwalker wishlist, thanks!
Edit: Not quite my genre but I’ll still add it in case it goes on sale. Maybe I’ll like it.
I don’t think that they don’t help, but I think if you’re at a not understanding everything that you read and you have the test in 4 months that reading more LNs that you only understand 60% of probably isn’t going to be enough in that time was all my point.
The only reason I’m studying at all is that on a good day I know I can pass, but on a bad day (and at 8 am when the N1 and N2 tests are held at my center), I’m not entirely sure I can.
In my country there’s someone who provides these kind of service:
Not sure about your situation but it made my life a lot easier.
Wow, that’s kind of… amazing. How did you find out about this kind of service?
I think a friend refered it to me the first time but he went out of business (aka didn’t work for the department anymore) and then I just search it on social media, it just right there, no super scret passages or such
