Finished translating the February 10 show! Made pretty good time on it, considering the fact that this was a Korakuen show. This was the tag tournament final.
First match was Shino vs Haru! Looks like we got our wish, rodan, haha! I was rooting for Shino to lose, and sure enough, Haru managed to get her first win with that flash pin she’s been practicing! Really fun match.
Haru’s comments:
Kazashiro: “I won… Shino-san is always positive, and I really admire the way she’s always looking ahead no matter what happens… She’s an amazing classmate who always makes me want to do my best, and my win today might’ve happened by chance, but I’m going to get stronger, and the next time we face each other… it won’t be by chance. I’m going to do my best so that I’ll be able to feel that I got a proper win.”
(Now that you’ve gotten your first win on your own, what are you aiming for next?)
“My next goal is, well, beating Runa, of course. She isn’t here now, but I’m sure she’s watching, so next time I’m going to beat Runa!”
Shino’s comments:
Shino: “…I lost. I came to Korakuen Hall today with the intention of winning. I staked it all on today. But I lost… I’m ashamed of myself for coming here thinking that I was going to win today. I came here really wanting to win… I’m ashamed that I came here thinking I could win, and it’s really pathetic. I think I’ve been totally relying on others up until this point. But in my matches from here… that’s how it always was, but from here, regardless of whether I’m facing someone in my class or my senpais, I’m going to win every single match, and I really mean that. I didn’t want to lose to my peers, but I realize that’s not enough. I’m going to win against my senpais, too, and it doesn’t matter if they’re a senior, junior, or in my class. Every single match, I am going to win more and more!”
The next match was Ram, Raku, and Pom vs Mahiro, Kamiyu, and Nao. I was like “this is TJPW’s valentines day match” and then that became part of the literal plot of the match, haha.
No comments for that one, though!
Moka vs Kaya also didn’t have comments, but something important happened, which is that Kaya debuted a new finisher! Looks like it’s called the 旋闘鳥流 on the recap. I did a bit of investigating, and it looks like it’s a JoJo’s reference (to 戦闘潮流)?
Funnily enough, the person I saw posting about this in English totally missed that 鳥 can be read ちょう, so therefore it’s read exactly the same as the JoJo’s arc title (I confirmed the reading in shupro’s recap). So I suppose I’ll probably just romanize it as Sento Choryu if it comes up going forward.
I’ll probably make a tweet about it so that more people know. I’ve already seen the misspelling circulating, lol.
A couple matches later, Mizuki faced Zara Zakher, an indie wrestler I’d never heard of before, who is still very early in her career (maybe just a year in?). I didn’t really know what to expect from the match, but I was honestly blown away! I thought she was awesome! Way, way better than I would have expected from someone with her amount of experience. I hope they keep bringing her back!
Mizuki’s comments:
Mizuki: “Amazing! Wow, I heard that she’d debuted just over a year ago, but boy was she powerful. Like, I was really surprised, and I really flipped the switch. I want to have matches with more different kinds of wrestlers. Zara is too powerful, though! But I heard so many people cheering for me, so I gave a lot of love and received love back, so I’m able to do my best! Thank you! Thank you so much.”
Zara’s comments were in English!
Zara: “TJPW, thank you guys for having me. It was a rough night. But I showed you guys what I had. I will be back; I will be stronger. Mizuki was a strong opponent; tonight wasn’t my night. But guess what? The Petite Powerhouse comes back again and again. See you guys soon.”
Something kind of funny is that I had a hard time hearing the word “petite” there, so I had to replay the clip, and I noticed that the person translating into Japanese also appeared to have missed it, because he left it out of the translation, haha. I suppose it’s a rather unusual English word, and “petite powerhouse” isn’t exactly a common/expected word combination…
The next match with comments was Juria vs Yuki Arai for the International Princess Championship! My favorite part of this match was when Juria brought out Moka’s move. I’m bad with moves, so I didn’t catch it myself, but I heard the Japanese commentary say that she’d just used Moka’s move and it made me emotional.

Kamiyu came out to challenge Arai next, which was a bit of a surprise! Here’s their interaction in the ring:
Arai: “This was my first title defense, and I know it took a lot of courage for Juria-chan, who will be graduating, to challenge for the belt… I really felt her strong feelings in the match, and I’m glad that I was able to fight her, too. Thank you very much. I want to keep defending my belt from here no matter who my opponent is, and I want to see even more different scenery, so please keep supporting me.” (Kamifuku enters)
Kamifuku: “Great job! An unimaginably beautiful visual right after the match, as expected. You’re always working so hard both in TJPW and in the idol industry.”
“You seem so busy, going back and forth between Nagoya and Tokyo, but despite that, when people ask, ‘You must be busy, huh? Aren’t you tired?’ you’re like, ‘No, not really!’ I’m not at all sick and tired of it. I’m not at all jealous of how much they love you, but, well, I also want to liven up TJPW. Lately I’ve been going to different countries in Asia and eating foods that I don’t really understand and working hard, but I’d like to make TJPW more exciting right here. And I thought, wouldn’t it get more exciting if we two people who care about looks break each other’s faces, and fight with that belt on the line?”
Arai: “Kamifuku-san… I didn’t expect you to be the one to come forward, and I’m a bit bewildered. But I want to fight you, too.”
Kamifuku: “Thank you. Well, Nagoya women like showing off, and I like to be showy, too. So if we’re doing it, how about Ryogoku…? Not the KFC one.”
Arai: “The Kokugikan one?”
Kamifuku: “At the Kokugikan one, let’s fight with both our looks and the belt on the line.”
Arai: “It’ll be my pleasure.”
Kamifuku: “Likewise.” (after the photos are taken) “Well, I’m looking forward to it.” (she leaves)
Arai: “Thank you!”
Arai’s comments:
Arai: “I defended my belt. This was my first time facing Juria-chan in a singles match, and even in tag matches, we never really faced off much, so I was amazed anew by how awesome her kicks were. There were so many moments where I thought I was going to lose consciousness, but, well, I had just become a champion, after all, so I was really feeling that I wanted to defend my belt many more times going forward, and I think I won with just that feeling. I don’t think we’ll get to have another singles match, so I’m really glad that I was able to fight her at the end.”
(Kamifuku declared her challenge)
“Well, Juria-chan is my junior, so getting challenged by a senpai… It happened when I had the tag belt, but Akai-san was there as my partner, so I was reassured by her presence. Getting challenged by my senpai when I’m on my own, I really don’t know how that’ll feel, but… I am a champion. So I’d like to win magnificently in my own style at Kokugikan.”
(You unusually targeted her leg)
“Juria-chan has amazing footwork, so I took that into consideration and targeted her leg a lot. Even then, she was still really strong, so I’m glad that I did it.” (laughs)
Juria’s comments
Juria: “This was my first time challenging for a singles belt, and of course after coming to pro wrestling, I wanted to win a medal, which is to say a title belt, but… Arai is very strong, and I also challenged with everything I have and showed all that I’m capable of now, but… I still couldn’t get the belt. I accept this fact, and I’m grateful to Arai for happily accepting my challenge after I said I wanted to try for the belt. I still have several more matches before my graduation, and I think it’s really great that I was able to get this kind of experience even though it’s right before that. I’m glad I was able to challenge for this belt at TJPW. I really regret that I lost.”
(You used Miyamoto’s move at the end of the match)
“Yes. Since I was challenging for a singles title instead of a tag title this time, I received a lot of support from Moka-san. Even after the match, she stuck close to me, saying, ‘it’s okay, it’s okay.’ So Moka-san taught me the Shiho-Nage, and I was able to completely turn a bad situation around by using that move. I’m very grateful to have Moka-san’s support.”
Kamiyu’s comments:
Kamifuku: “I declared a title challenge, which is rare. Well, since Arai-chan came to TJPW a few years ago, she really has been surpassing more and more people.”
“Not only that, but she’s an exemplary model of a beloved character, and looks-wise, too, she’s the best. I think she’s super elite, an amazing girl who’s very active in and is truly leading the way in both the idol industry and the pro wrestling industry. I’ve felt a desire to bully the elite since basically forever. You know what I mean? Like, ‘I hope that kid who’s studying super hard for the test gets a stomach ache.’ I feel that sort of thing sometimes. I don’t have an evil heart or anything, but sometimes I just want to lash out. And thought about Yuki-chan and I, who both care a lot about looks, making a mess of each other and getting fired up, so I challenged her. …I’m going to do my best!”
(The location is Ryogoku Kokugikan)
“Ryogoku Kokugikan, yes.”
This was a bit tricky: “荒井ちゃんくらいだと名古屋…愛知県の半分くらいは持ってこれるんじゃないかなと思うので。私も藤沢市民をたくさん連れてこようと思ってるし.”
“With someone like Arai-chan, I think she’ll bring in Nagoya… about half of Aichi Prefecture. I’m also planning to bring a lot of Fujisawa residents along with me. I’m really nervous, and I don’t think about taking the initiative with title matches and such. But if it’s what it takes to liven up TJPW, I’m willing to do things that stress me out, things that I don’t want to do. I hope the place gets filled to the gills.”
For that last “埋まるといいね”, I wasn’t exactly sure what the best way to translate it was.
(If you win, you’ll have two singles titles)
“I sure will. It’s good to have two, isn’t it? Two is more fashionable than one, and I’ll look attractive. With a green belt, I think I’ll become a nice, updated 31-year-old woman.”
This line took me a few tries to maybe parse, haha: “頑張って厚化粧、厚ベルトいきたいと思います.”
“I’m going to do my best and go heavy on the makeup and heavy on the belts.”
The main event was a blast! I was on Daisy Monkey’s side all the way, and they did a fantastic job keeping me on my toes! I was so happy to see them win!
Here’s the post-match:
Suzume: “Thank you so much. Thank you to everyone who came and supported us! We won the tournament! Will the two tag team champions please come out?” (to Yukiniki, who show up with a yell) “We beat Daydream and won the tournament. Please let us challenge for your belts!”
Aino: (without a moment’s delay) “Of course! Let’s fight at Ryogoku Kokugikan!”
Suzume: “I look forward to it!”
Mizunami: “Hey, Suzume, Endo! ‘Daisy Monkey’ for short! Congratulations on winning! We’ll be waiting for you at Ryogoku Kokugikan!”
They shake hands, and Yukiniki leaves.
Endo: “Thank you, everyone. We may have lost last time, but we’re not going to lose the next one. Everyone, please root for us!”
Suzume: “We’ve made it this far with everyone’s support as a tailwind at our backs, pushing us forward. Please keep supporting us! Thank you so much!”
Daisy Monkey’s comments::
This exchange at the start was a bit tricky:
Endo: “We did it!”
Suzume: “Yay! We finally got results. Our efforts took shape. They’re big, huh?”
Endo: “Big… can we call them a medal?”
Suzume: “I say we can. It’s a medal. Even though we got beaten up so badly, we beat Daydream. I don’t even know how many times I would’ve lost had I been on my own, but Arisu was there to save me every time…” (cries) “I was able to stay standing all the way to the end with her encouragement keeping me from giving up.”
Endo: “I believed in us. Thank you, truly! It’s huge, beating those two. I wonder if we’ll be able to go even further. Do you think we can?”
Suzume: “Our next destination is already set.”
Endo: “It’s been decided. Ryogoku.”
Suzume: “Ryogoku Kokugikan, an impossibly huge show. But we aren’t going to stop here.”
Endo: “We’ll never stop. Not with these (trophies) either.”
This line was hard to put into English
Suzume: “We’ll get them both, and with that greed, Daisy Monkey is going to burst out from here. Please support us. Thank you very much!”
(Was it also significant getting another win over Tatsumi?)
“Yes!”
I had a bit of trouble with this: “私はプロレスラーとして尊敬する先輩で、それはみんなと変わらないはずなんですけど…やっぱり最後の最後、もう何もできない状態というか、心でしか闘えない部分でリカさんが相手っていう場面だと特別なんだなって思います.”
“She’s a senpai I respect as a professional wrestler, and of course that’s true for everyone else, but… At the end of the day, when there’s nothing else you can do, or rather when your spirit is all you have left to fight with, I think having Rika-san as your opponent is something special.”
(What do you think about Yukiniki, whom you also fought on January 4?)
Endo: “Of course they were strong when we fought that time. Super, super strong. We did everything we could, but we still couldn’t win. But now we have these (trophies). We won the tournament. That’s huge! So we can win. We’re winning. That’s all.”
Suzume: “Yes. I feel the same.” (laughs)
Daydream’s comments (prepare yourself…):
Tatsumi: “Ahhh. It’s no good. Not good, not good, this is not good. It’s a bad dream. A nightmare. Sorry, Miu.”
Miu: “It’s disappointing. Daydream winning the belts and winning the tournament both happened quite a while ago, so I was prepared to do two matches (at Ryogoku) as long as we made it that far, and Rika-san said she’d do two or three matches, too.”
I couldn’t figure out what she was trying to say here: “でも、でじもんもいっぱい2人で歩んできただけの闘いがあって.”
“But Daisy Monkey were so much, it was a match that only the two of them had walked. I never expected it would be such a tough fight against Daisy Monkey, but they were really strong… It’s alright, though. Daydream will keep dreaming from here, and I want to keep making dreams come true.”
Tatsumi: “No, I can’t see a future anymore… It’s pitch black.”
Miu: “It’s alright, it’ll be fine.”
Tatsumi: “My dream of having the belt is also far away. You’re challenging for it, right?”
Miu: “Yes, On March 31 at Ryogoku Kokugikan.”
Tatsumi: “Will you hand it over to me? The right to challenge?”
Miu: “What?”
Tatsumi: “Give it to me.”
Miu: “Absolutely not. No way.”
Tatsumi: “If you do, it’ll all be fine. Everything will work out, so give it to me. Please. PLEASE!” (pleading as she grasps Miu’s hand tightly)
Miu: “Scary… But I won (the battle royal).”
Tatsumi: “It’s fine, give it to me.”
Miu: “No!”
Tatsumi: (strangling Miu) “Shut up! Are you ready to give it to me?”
Miu: “I’m not! I’m scared, I’m scared!”
Tatsumi: “That’s enough!” (she leaves to go backstage)
Miu: “Why… why doesn’t anyone stop her? But Rika-san is just frustrated; we’ll still be teaming up as Daydream from here. Actually, acting like that, that’s Rika-san’s normal state.” (laughs) “From here, I’m going to fulfill the dreams I want to fill as Daydream, too, and I’ll be challenging on my own for the Princess of Princess championship at Ryogoku Kokugikan. I’m going to do my best both as Daydream and as myself."
(Having fought both teams in a short span of time, what are your expectations for the championship match?)
“After fighting both teams relatively recently, just last month, I feel like Daisy Monkey has gotten stronger since last month, and I think everyone’s impression of Daisy Monkey so far is that they’re something fresh, and they were an even fresher team in the tag tournament this year, and as we fought today, I felt that they’ve shown their willpower as a team in the past month. Yukiniki has also been getting stronger and stronger, so I don’t know what’ll happen, but I’m temporarily going to put tag teams aside for the next month.”
Yukiniki’s comments:
Aino: “May I speak?”
Mizunami: “Go ahead!”
Aino: “That was quite the heated battle. I’ve faced Daydream many times, so I’m very well aware of their strength. So when Daisy Monkey won the tournament by beating Daydream, there’s no way it wouldn’t get my heart fired up. I was already feeling like I wanted to be there, so I was really happy when they called us up. I want to do this at Ryogoku Kokugikan with Aniki as Yukininki and burn until there’s nothing left.”
Mizunami: “Daisy Monkey. I watched the tournament final myself just now. At any rate, they had a lot of mobility and tenacity. That victory those girls won by not giving up until the end, I think that’s worth a whole lot.”
This was a bit tricky: “その勝利を経て私たちのタッグのタイトルに両国で挑戦しに来るということは、私たちはそれ以上の熱で迎え撃つことが彼女たちにとっての気持ちの表し方かなと思います.”
“Coming to challenge us in a tag title match at Ryogoku after that victory, I think that’s a way of expressing their desire for us to meet and fight them with even more passion.”
Aino: “Yes!”
Mizunami: “My heart is burning with passion, too! They really aren’t bad. Their bodies are so small, where on earth do they bring out so much power from? They’re awesome. I think even more passion will burst out at Ryogoku than we saw today, so we’re going to… There’s still a lot of time left. We’re going to get even more fired up as we head into that match.”
And that’s it for that one!
