Stuck on -kun

Dear all,

Have been enjoying this quite a bit and I think it is helping my Japanese progress quite well, but now I seem to be stuck on the vocab for the affix -kun, which is translated as buddy. If I type in buddy, it says it wants something else. I have no idea how to pass this lesson so I can continue on with the program.

I have tried:

_buddy
buddy
-buddy
-----buddy
Etc etc.

Any help would be great.

Very best,

Buddy should work, are you sure that you’re not giving the meaning where WaniKani wants the reading?

You could also try “ruler”, the secondary meaning.

There are four different Wanikani cards for 君:

So if you’re on the 〜君 one, you need to type “boy name ender”. It will also accept “kun” as the meaning.

Remember, you can always use the search or browse features to look up these details on the web site.

〜君 also accepts “kun”, which - if you understand the concept behind it - makes perfect sense. AFAIK, there is no equivalent in English.
