Shower thought: WaniKani is one of my most frequently used Japanese "words", and I've only ever seen it in romaji

I use the word WaniKani probably dozens of times per day. When I first joined and knew absolutely nothing about anything, I remember reading the lore that the two halves of the word meant “crab” and “gator”, and I told that to my Japanese partner, and she agreed it was true. Since then, I’ve embraced that “crabigator” was the mascot, and only just now did I realize: I’ve never once wondered what the kanjis looked like! I’ve never seen them represented on this site anywhere! I’m honestly kind of aghast they’re not at least part of the logo somewhere.

So I just checked. They are both in level 50. Not quite there yet. But even more weird: I always assumed that since “crabigator” is the mascot, then probably wani=crab and kani=gator. Nope. I’ve been mismutanting our beloved mutant mascot for all of these years. :sob:
